Is stomach cancer just an older person’s disease?
Not always.

While it’s more common in adults over 50, stomach cancer is increasingly being diagnosed among younger individuals. However, many of these cases are only confirmed at later stages, when symptoms become harder to ignore.

Know your risks. If symptoms persist, get them checked early.

It takes more than training to be a great nurse. It takes heart.

Nurses care for patients through some of the most vulnerable moments in their lives. They offer clinical expertise, emotional support, and a steady presence when it matters most.

In this video, we follow Kelsy, one of our oncology nurses at Parkway Cancer Centre, through a typical day. From administering treatment to guiding patients and families, she shows how every task and every quiet moment of care can make a meaningful difference.

This is the heart of nursing. It is compassion in action, every single day.

To all nurses, thank you for the knowledge you bring, the comfort you give, and the lives you touch.

Gastric cancer, also known as stomach cancer, begins in the stomach lining and often develops with few or no early symptoms.

Understanding how it starts, how it spreads, and why early detection matters can make all the difference.

Although gastric cancer is the fifth most common cancer worldwide, it remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths—largely because it is often diagnosed at a later stage..

"Becoming a nurse feels like the best way to turn that love and concern into something real.”

Kelsy, one of our oncology nurses at Parkway Cancer Centre, first felt called to nursing while caring for her grandmother. What began as a personal act of love became a lifelong commitment to others.

Nurses like Kelsy remind us that strength lies not just in what you do, but in the heart you bring to it.

This Nurses’ Day, we thank all nurses for being a steady source of calm, compassion, and courage. Your care makes even the hardest days feel a little more hopeful.

What if cancer risk wasn’t just about chance—but something you could uncover early?

Multigene testing offers insight into inherited cancer risks, especially for breast and ovarian cancers. It includes genes like BRCA1 and BRCA2, which help repair damaged DNA. When mutations occur, the risk of certain cancers rises significantly.

Knowing your genetic risk allows you and your doctor to make proactive choices— from regular screening to preventive steps, early knowledge empowers better choices.
