Most eye conditions only present with symptoms in later stages when significant damage to vision has occurred, making regular eye checks vital for the population at large.

Regular eye screenings help to safeguard eye health and aid in the early detection and prevention of vision-threatening conditions like:

• Cataract
• Glaucoma
• Age-related macular degeneration
• Strabismus
• Amblyopia (lazy eye)

For adults aged 18-60, a detailed eye screening is recommended every 2 years. However, annual screenings are advised for individuals above the age of 60, with a family history of eye conditions, or are with past eye infections.

Children, on the other hand, should have a comprehensive eye screening before they start school, and a routine eye examination done every one to two years.

Dr Leo Adult & Paediatric Eye Specialist offers comprehensive eye screenings for both adults and children. To schedule an appointment for eye screening, call 📞𝟲𝟳𝟯𝟳 𝟴𝟯𝟲𝟲 today.

Dry eyes is a condition in which the tear layer that lubricates the eyeballs is insufficient, causing the eyes to be prone to damage and infection.

This condition can happen to anyone at any age. Thankfully, dry eye disease is treatable and the symptoms can be controlled with treatments such as prescription medications, lifestyle and dietary changes.

If you are experiencing symptoms of blurred vision, scratchy or burning sensation in the eyes and excessive tearing, reach out for prompt assessment and management from our ophthalmologist. 📞𝟲𝟳𝟯𝟳 𝟴𝟯𝟲𝟲

A child’s vision is a cornerstone of their growth and development. This is what led 𝗗𝗿 𝗟𝗲𝗼 𝗦𝗲𝗼 𝗪𝗲𝗶 to sub-specialise in paediatric ophthalmology, where timely intervention can make a lasting difference.

Children may not always recognise when something is wrong with their vision, often assuming what they see is normal. Without early detection, eye diseases can worsen and result in irreversible blindness.

With over two decades of clinical experience, Dr Leo, formerly the Head of Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus at the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute, is well-versed in treating common paediatric eye conditions including strabismus, myopia and lazy eye.

With a deep understanding of the unique challenges involved in treating children, Dr Leo remains committed to safeguarding young eyes and delivering timely, thoughtful care that supports healthy visual development.

Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness. Fortunately, early detection and intervention can go a long way in managing the condition.

For an accurate diagnosis, an ophthalmologist will conduct a detailed screening test that includes reviewing your medical history and assessing your eyes through several key checks. This involves measuring eye pressure, examining the optic nerve for signs of damage, and testing the visual field for vision changes.

Our eye clinic is well-equipped with modern ophthalmological equipment and industry-recognised medicines for effective glaucoma diagnosis and treatment. For enquiries, reach us at 📞𝟲𝟳𝟯𝟳 𝟴𝟯𝟲𝟲 today.

Characterised by misaligned eyes, strabismus is an eye condition in which the eyes are not aligned and point in different directions.

This eye misalignment is commonly seen in children, and is caused by an abnormality in the neuromuscular control of eye movement.

When left untreated, this eye misalignment can lead to amblyopia (lazy eye), eye strain and headaches.

On top of this, children with untreated strabismus can also develop poor depth perception and side vision.

Should your child display signs of strabismus (misaligned eyes, unusual head tilting or squinting), consult with an experienced paediatric ophthalmologist. 📞𝟲𝟳𝟯𝟳 𝟴𝟯𝟲𝟲

With the advent of intelligent imaging systems, cataract assessment is becoming more comprehensive than ever. The Zeiss CIRRUS PathFinder is one such advancement, designed to elevate the quality of diagnostic care.

The Zeiss CIRRUS PathFinder combines high-resolution Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scans with AI analysis to capture detailed retinal images and highlight subtle changes that may be difficult to detect manually.

This allows for better customised planning of cataract surgery, assuring patients of optimal visual outcomes.

Dr Leo Adult & Paediatric Eye Specialist is among the first in the world to offer the Zeiss CIRRUS PathFinder, reinforcing our commitment to safe and effective cataract care. For more information, contact us at 📞𝟲𝟳𝟯𝟳 𝟴𝟯𝟲𝟲.

A good alternative to regular contact lenses and LASIK, implantable contact lenses (ICL) are effective at correcting a wide range of refractive errors to help restore clear vision.

Made of collamer (a polymer of collagen biocompatible with the eye), ICL is surgically implanted between the iris and the natural lens to permanently correct vision without causing dry eyes or adverse reactions to the eye.

ICL is also reversible, fuss-free and requires no special maintenance, unlike typical contact lenses which need daily rinsing, storing and re-insertion.

For more information on how ICL works to restore clear vision, consult with our experienced ophthalmologist. 📞𝟲𝟳𝟯𝟳 𝟴𝟯𝟲𝟲

The prevalence of myopia in Singapore is among the highest globally, affecting about 60% by the age of 12 and 80% by the age of 18.

Most cases of myopia result from excessive near-sighted work, like playing computer games and mobile use, as well as a lack of outdoor exposure.

However, having a family history of myopia can also cause one to be at increased risk of developing myopia.

Regular eye check-ups are crucial to managing myopia progression. An experienced paediatric ophthalmologist with extensive experience in myopia control can also offer evidence-based treatment tailored to your child’s needs.

Myopia often strikes young. If your child is affected by any of these risk factors, call 📞𝟲𝟳𝟯𝟳 𝟴𝟯𝟲𝟲 to arrange for a detailed eye examination today.

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a progressive eye condition where there is damage to the macula or central part of the retina, which can affect central vision.

As AMD can cause blindness if left untreated, proper diagnosis is key to effective treatment, so that disease progression can be slowed to retain vision.

If you notice black spots in your vision, or blurred central vision, see an experienced ophthalmologist for prompt assessment and treatment. 📞𝟲𝟳𝟯𝟳 𝟴𝟯𝟲𝟲
