Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a progressive eye condition arising from damage to the macula or central part of the retina that can blur and distort central vision.

As one of the leading causes of blindness in individuals aged 50 and above, prompt detection and intervention are particularly important in preventing vision loss.

Depending on the severity and type of AMD, different treatment methods are required.

For cases of wet AMD, treatment may involve intravitreal injections to inhibit growth of abnormal blood vessels, photodynamic therapy to reduce leakage and seal abnormal blood vessels, or laser photocoagulation to destroy abnormal blood vessels.
