When a 3-year-old girl went missing just hours before catastrophic floods swept across parts of Texas, rescuers feared the worst. The storm intensified quickly, and with every passing minute, hope faded. But after hours of searching, emergency crews spotted something in the mud: a tiny figure alive with a dog curled up beside her, guarding her fragile body from the cold and chaos.

The most astonishing part? The dog wasn’t hers. No one recognized it. Covered in mud and visibly trembling, this unknown animal had apparently stayed by the child’s side through the night, shielding her from the wind and rising water. It had no collar, no owner nearby, and no reason to be there except instinct and something that looked a lot like love.

Photos of the pair are now spreading across the internet, stirring hearts around the world. After their beloved dog, Baileys, passed away, our friend Jamie was inconsolable. Baileys had been more than a pet. She was family. Every walk, every quiet night, every wagging tail at the door after work had been part of Jamie’s daily rhythm for nearly a decade.

We watched Jamie go through the grieving process. The house felt empty, they said. The leash hung untouched. Even the dog bowl stayed on the kitchen floor for weeks, as if Baileys might return.

None of us dared mention getting a new dog. We knew Baileys was irreplaceable.

Then one day, Jamie texted us a photo. A tiny pup with one ear flopped over and paws too big for her body. “Not replacing,” the caption said, “just healing.”

We met the pup a week later. Her name? Hope.

Jamie still speaks of Baileys today. But now, those memories are shared with laughter instead of tears, and Hope curled up at their feet.

In 2017, my wife and I started Pet Cremators SG after going through one of the most painful experiences any pet parent can face: losing our own beloved dog. Over the years, we’ve said goodbye to hamsters, rabbits, cats, and dogs. Each loss stayed with us. Each one changed us.

It wasn’t just about grief. It was about not knowing where to turn when it was time to let go. We wanted to honour our pets in a way that felt right. But we couldn’t find a service that offered both professionalism and true compassion. That’s what inspired us to begin this journey.

We opened Pet Cremators with the hope of creating a quiet and respectful space where pet parents could say their final goodbyes with dignity and care. Since then, we’ve met so many others who have walked the same path. People arrive holding onto collars and blankets, bringing flowers, or simply unsure of what to do next. We see them. We understand them. Because we’ve been there too.

Together with a small team who shares our values, we do our best to support every family who comes to us. Yes, we offer cremation and farewell services. But more importantly, we offer a place where your grief is respected and your love for your pet is honoured. There is no right or wrong way to say goodbye. Only what feels meaningful to you and your companion.
