Dr Lim Kah Beng was born in Taiping, Malaysia and completed his higher education in Epsom College, Surrey, UK. He received his medical education at Charing Cross Hospital Medical School, now part of the Imperial College NHS Trust. Dr Lim specialised in dermatology at the St John’s Hospital for Diseases of the Skin, now renamed St John’s Institute of Dermatology at Guy's, London and worked in Middle Road Hospital (later replaced by the National Skin Centre) for several years before leaving for private practice. He was also a Visiting Consultant and Visiting Specialist to the National Skin Centre for several years . Dr Lim now runs a private dermatology practice in Gleneagles Medical Centre, Singapore and treats all types of medical and cosmetic skin disorders including acne, eczema, pigmentation and psoriasis. He offers a full range of treatment, including laser therapy, radiofrequency, fillers and Botox. Dr Lim has published numerous articles in local and international peer reviewed journals and is still active in research. CSB stain, which Dr Lim developed, is now routinely used as a fungal stain by several laboratories in the world. He is also very interested in the health promoting effects of anti-oxidants and has developed the Ferric Reducing Capacity (FRC) assay for measuring the anti-oxidant capacity of serum and foods. Dr Lim has written several skin related books, including Steps to Skin Beauty, Hair Problems, The Bald Facts and No More Pimples as well as a science fiction novel, 21st Century Slaves. He is also a budding lyricist and playwright and a member of the Composers and Authors Society of Singapore (COMPASS).
