Dr Francisco, a specialist nephrologist, a transplant immunologist and a health coach from Francisco Kidney & Medical Centre - Singapore at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital is inviting you to celebrate with him the World Kidney Day today 11 March 2021 at 2 pm Singapore’s time.

He will be sharing live on Facebook his thoughts and personal and professional perspective on what living well with CKD means… with the aim of inspiring patients, caregivers and healthcare providers to higher levels of self-care.

Dr Francisco aims to motivate people, at different levels, to focus their efforts on prevention over just reacting to problems.

Although the focus of his talk is CKD, it applies to any chronic illness like type 2 diabetes; so patients having other chronic conditions different from CKD or doctors or healthcare providers treating different types of chronic illnesses are also invited to hear his views.

Living well with chronic kidney disease or any chronic illness is associated with greater levels of health and physical and mental wellbeing.

Patients can learn self-care: Taking charge on their own health, doing the necessary improvements in their diet, lifestyle and other aspects of their life; whilst aiming to have a more functional and enjoyable life, and as normal as possible.

Adopting a more positive approach to challenges and living more graciously despite their disease appears to be the centre point. But to facilitate that, concerted, purposeful, holistic, multidisciplinary and supportive integrated medical and health care is pivotal; where prevention definitively takes priority over just treating complications and supporting disabilities.

This talk is organised together by Francisco Kidney & Medical Centre & and WhatsDoc, an innovative telemedicine provider.

To watch live just tune at 2 pm today (Singapore’s time) on Facebook in our respective pages, following the link below:

https://fb.me/e/1XCSkm20q

We hope to see you there and get inspired to further support your patients (or yourself if you are a patient) to greater levels of self-care and to live well (or at least better) with CKD or any other chronic illness and despite your disease.

Dr Francisco, wishing you the best possible health!

LIVING WELL WITH CKD - Celebrating the World Kidney Day on 11 March 2021 with Dr Francisco!

Living well with chronic kidney disease (CKD) is associated with greater levels of health and physical and mental wellbeing.

Patients can learn self-care: Meaning taking charge on their own health, doing the necessary improvements in their diet, lifestyle and other aspects of their life; whilst aiming to have a more functional and enjoyable life, and as normal as possible.

Adopting a more positive approach to challenges and living more graciously despite their disease appears to be the centre point. But to facilitate that, concerted, purposeful, holistic, multidisciplinary and supportive integrated medical and health care is pivotal; where prevention takes priority over just treating complications and supporting disabilities.

Dr Francisco is inviting you to celebrate with him the World Kidney Day this 11 March 2021.

Dr Francisco will be sharing his thoughts and personal and professional perspective on what living well with CKD means.

Dr Francisco is a specialist nephrologist, a transplant immunologist working at Francisco Kidney & Medical Centre - Singapore, and a passionate health coach; treating kidney and related conditions but also helping people to achieve health enhancement, better metabolic control, sustainable weight loss and greater functional fitness.

Besides providing conventional treatment advice, he also practises holistic medicine, seeing the individual as a whole…because he knows that every person has distinct needs, dreams, goals, preferences and priorities; and is facing different challenges in life.

He treats diseases but his care is not disease-centric as he provides personalised supplementary coaching advice in whatever could be optimised in his patients for them to be healthier and happier individuals.

On Thursday 11 March 2021, tune to watch on Facebook like any of his 2 public live talks.

One on his private Facebook group Bite-Size Information for Kidney and Related Diseases -You need to join to watch it there if you are not already a member (but fill in all the membership questions) -press the group link to lead you there; or you can watch the other public Facebook live, which will be broadcasted live simultaneously at Francisco Kidney & Medical Centre - Singapore and WhatsDoc’s pages.

Check the event section on Francisco Kidney & Medical Centre - Singapore page for the timings (Singapore time), so you don’t miss them!

We hope to see you there and get inspired by Dr Francisco to further support your patients (or yourself if you are a patient) to greater levels of self-care and to live well (or at least better) with CKD…and despite CKD.

Dr Francisco, wishing you the best possible health!

Our nephrologist

Dr Francisco graduated with honours from the Faculty of Medicine of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in Mexico City, Mexico. He obtained his MRCP (UK) in London, United Kingdom, where he did his senior medical officer postings at the Royal London Hospital and Barts Hospital. He specialised in Nephrology at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), where he acquired 10 years of experience as a Nephrologist, with a clinical subspecialty in Kidney Transplantation.

Dr Francisco was also trained as an Immunologist at Imperial College London in the United Kingdom, under the supervision of Prof Sir Robert Lechler. He was awarded a distinction for his MSc in thymopoiesis and had straight-pass during his PhD thesis viva on "Transplantation Tolerance and Immunoregulation".

Dr Francisco was actively involved in many research projects at the SGH, where he held few institutional research grants for the study of the immune mechanisms behind kidney transplant rejection, glomerulonephritis and lupus nephritis. His work led to several international publications, but more importantly, it has equipped him with a greater understanding of the disease processes underlying the kidney disorders he manages. Thus, Dr Francisco does not only provides holistic and empathic specialist medical care to his patients, but also provides them with evidence-based and up-to-date medical advice.
