1)Dr Tan Kian Teo is a specialist in dermatology whose ar

eas of specialty include general and aesthetic dermatological conditions, and sexually transmitted infections. He evaluates and treats all medical skin, hair and nail conditions in both adults and children. He is an expert in minimally invasive procedures like cryotherapy, electrocautery, chemical peels, intense pulsed light therapy, laser surgery, botulinum toxin A and filler injections. Dr Tan obtained his specialist training in dermatology at the National Skin Centre. He became an accredited fellow of the Academy of Physicians, Chapter of Dermatology, Singapore, in 2007. Prior to setting up his own private practice, he was consultant at the National Skin Centre. He was also a clinical tutor at the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and was active in the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students. An area of special interest to Dr Tan is hair problems. He was awarded the Ministry of Health Human Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Fellowship in the year 2007 to pursue his interest in this field. He underwent training in the subspecialty of hair disorders at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, United Kingdom, from 2007 to 2008. He is currently a visiting consultant to the National Skin Centre where he runs the Hair and Nail Clinic. Another area of particular interest to Dr Tan is urticaria. He has conducted various research studies on chronic urticaria in the local context. He was involved in setting up the Urticaria Clinic at the National Skin Centre together with Prof Malcolm Greaves and he was in-charge of that clinic prior to leaving for private practice. Apart from clinical work, Dr Tan was also active in clinical research. He has published extensively in both scientific journals and the local media. He has also presented papers on his research at local and international scientific meetings. Dr Tan won the Best Paper Award at the Dermatological Society of Singapore Annual Scientific Meeting in 2006. 2)Dr Goh Boon Kee is a specialist in dermatology who has more than 20 years of medical experience. He provides care and services for adults and children with all skin, hair and nail problems, including aesthetic dermatological conditions and surgery for skin cancers. Dr Goh Boon Kee graduated with First Class Honours in Chemical Pathology in 1993 from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, and attained his medical degree from the same university in 1996, awarded specially with the John Ingram Prize in Dermatology. Dr Goh completed his training in Internal Medicine and Dermatology in Singapore, and received an overseas fellowship award to the University of Ghent, Belgium where he sub-specialises in Vitiligo and Pigmentary Disorders. He received his specialist accreditation in 2005, and was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) in 2011. Prior to joining Skin Physicians and Loke Skin Clinic, Dr Goh was the Chief of Pigment Clinic and Deputy Director of Research at the National Skin Centre. He was also a Clinical Lecturer at the National University of Singapore and an Honorary Clinical Tutor at the University of Cardiff in United Kingdom. Besides being highly trained and experienced in general and cosmetic dermatology, Dr Goh has established himself as a leading authority in pigmentary disorders and transplantation surgery for vitiligo. He is adept with the use of various lasers and IPL in the treatment of pigmentary problems, and pioneered the transplantation of autologous skin cells (cellular grafting) for vitiligo in Singapore. Since 2007, he has successfully treated more than 600 cases of vitiligo with cellular grafting. Apart from clinical work, Dr Goh has also been active in research and has published extensively in peer-reviewed scientific journals, chapters and abstracts. He is a regular invited speaker and chairperson at international dermatological conferences. Currently he is serving as the President of the Asian Society for Pigment Cell Research, and previously held the position of Vice-President of the Dermatological Society of Singapore. 3)Dr Roland Chu is a fully accredited Consultant Dermatologist with extensive experience in treating adult and paediatric medical and aesthetic skin, hair and nail conditions. His special interests include eczema, skin allergy, urticaria, acne, and skin cancers. He holds a PhD in dermatology and has been particularly active in eczema research. Dr Chu first obtained an honours degree in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA) before subsequently reading Medicine at the University of Edinburgh (UK), where he was awarded his medical degree in 2002. With a keen interest in research, he was also awarded the prestigious Medical Research Council (UK) Clinical Research Training Fellowship culminating in the award of a PhD in 2012 for his research into eczema. Dr Chu completed his Internal Medicine and Dermatology training in the UK, during which he was also awarded a Fellowship by the Scottish Dermatological Society to pursue his interest in skin allergy and urticaria at St John’s Institute of Dermatology (London). He is dually registered with the General Medical Council (UK) and the Singapore Medical Council, and is a member of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh), the British Association of Dermatologists and the Dermatological Society of Singapore. Having worked both locally and abroad, he has extensive experience treating both Asian and Caucasian skin types. Prior to joining Loke Skin Clinic, Dr Chu was a Consultant Dermatologist at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary (UK) and subsequently at the National Skin Centre (Singapore). At NSC, he was Deputy Head of the Eczema Clinic, and also ran the Contact Dermatology and Urticaria Clinics. In recognition of his patient-centred care, he regularly received patient compliments and was presented with an NSC Service Award. He is presently a Visiting Consultant at both the National Skin Centre and the National University Hospital. Dr Chu was also a Clinical Tutor at the University of Edinburgh as well as a Clinical Lecturer at the National University of Singapore. In addition to his clinical work, Dr Chu was actively involved in international dermatological research, collaborating with leading scientists on numerous studies. His main research interests included the cause and treatment of eczema, which was the focus of his PhD thesis

Dr Goh Boon Kee participated in the the first edition of the Skin Summit held in Juan Les Pins of Antibes France (Photo 1). This congress was organised by the French dermatologist, Prof Thierry Passeron of Nice (Photo 2). It brought together world experts in Vitiligo, Pigmentary Disorders and Photo-protection research. They included John Harris (USA), Thierry Passeron (France), Kang Hee Young (Korea) (Photo 3), David Fisher (USA), & Jean Krutmann (Germany). Highlights of the latest scientific advances made included targeting a sub-group of CD8+ T-cells (CD137) that interact directly with melanocytes and developing siRNA to treat vitiligo (John Harris); developing effective sunscreens that blocks not only UVA, UVB but Visible Light (not using just antioxidants) (Thierry Passeron); and developing new SIK-kinase inhibitors (e.g. SLT-001) for photo-protection & anti-aging (David Fisher).
