What a weekend it’s been, celebrating World Diabetes Day 2025. The theme this year is diabetes and well-being , with the subtheme being diabetes and the workplace.

We interviewed Zoey Chan, inventor of NIDO, what a heartfelt and inspiring sharing, and the product is so well thought out. We wish Zoey all the best in bringing the product to commercialisation.

We also had a panel discussion on Diabetes and the workplace, with a focus on type 1 diabetes. Facilitated by Dr Suresh Rama Chandran, the panel discussants included Dr Ester Yeoh, Tong Lai Mun (HR professional), Cheralyn Foo and Adela Wen Yin Foo from typeOne.sg.

Summary of concepts:
Disclosure of T1D is dependent on the relationship between employee and employer, and centres on one’s safety in the workplace. That we could all create a better understanding in the workplace for people living with diabetes, and that self-managing T1 diabetes means one is naturally a great multi-tasker and manager!

Learning to manage insulin during exercise can appear challenging, but with an understanding of how our body uses glucose during exercise and how various insulins work, it is possible!.
