Our hair tells a story, and it often mirrors what’s happening inside our bodies. One of the biggest internal shifts that affects hair happens during major hormonal changes — like pregnancy, postpartum, or menopause.

During pregnancy, higher levels of estrogen can make hair feel thicker and fuller — that’s the famous “pregnancy glow” 💫. But after giving birth, those hormone levels drop rapidly, which can trigger postpartum shedding (also called telogen effluvium). Similarly, during menopause, estrogen and progesterone levels decline, while androgens (like testosterone) may become more dominant. This shift can cause hair to thin, lose volume, or grow more slowly, especially around the crown or hairline.
