Singaporeans are eating much more sodium and saturated fat than is recommended. For example, the average sodium intake is around 3,620 mg/day, almost double the recommended limit of about 2,000 mg.
From mid-2027, packaged salt, sauces, seasonings, instant noodles, and cooking oils will have to carry Nutri-Grade labels.
This will make it easier to tell at a glance which sauces, oils, instant noodles are “healthier” choices. Labels will help compare between similar products.
As consumers, we can start paying attention now: pick sauces with less sodium, try lighter oils, and check labels. Every little change makes a difference.
