The Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (Singapore) is a professional non-profit organization formed in 1990 to promote the discipline of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in Singapore. (link to history) It does so by organizing professional continuing education for OMS surgeons in Singapore. The association advices on guidelines and benchmarks for minimal standards of practice for OMS surgery in Singapore. As of September 2005, the association has been accredited as a "Continuing Professional Education Provider" by the Singapore Dental Council. The AOMSS will strive to provide an added avenue for fulfillment of the educational requirements of OMS surgeons as well as other dental professionals in Singapore. Likewise, it provides direction and advices to the Ministries(eg MOH, MOE and Mindef) with regards to the aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

We are pleased to announce that the winning artwork for the AOMSS 30th Anniversary Logo Design Competition is Design #4, belonging to Dr Lee Chee Seng!

Congratulations Dr Lee!

Logo Description:
Green and light orange were chosen in keeping with the colour scheme of the original logo, which has served the association well for 30 years. Light orange signifies youth and vibrancy while green represents rebirth and renewal. The two concentric circles represent the wide and ever-expanding scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The Rod of Asclepius, a serpent entwined rod wielded by the Greek deity Asclepius, is a symbol of healing and medicine. This symbol signifies the extensive medical knowledge required in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the tight-knit relationship with our medical colleagues. The laurel wreath is used as a symbol of victory, success, and achievement, which aptly represents the accomplishments of those who paved the way for this specialty in Singapore.

With this, we would like to also announce the migration of our FB page to https://www.facebook.com/AOMSSingapore. Please do follow us to the new page for all further Association updates!

The Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons Singapore (AOMSS) is welcoming its 30th anniversary this year. In celebration of this joyful event, we are holding a competition for a special Anniversary Edition logo for the Association.

The current AOMSS logo was designed by the founding members of our association and had since served our profession well. It symbolises our constant thrive for better patient care, our passion for self-improvement and our combined efforts to broaden the horizon and scope of the profession. Through the past 30 years, our fraternity has evolved and prospered. We hope to incorporate a fresh perspective on the current Singapore OMS scene through this competition. The current logo will also be entered into the contest.
