AT + ABR Summit: Bridging Two Languages of Body Wisdom
This September we hosted a very special encounter — the AT + ABR Summit, where Leonid Blyum met with the Balance Arts Center team from New York, led by Ann Rodiger, one of the world’s most experienced Alexander Technique teachers.
Over two days, Leonid shared ABR’s fascia-based understanding of structure, function, and regeneration.
Ann and her team introduced the refined world of the Alexander Technique, demonstrating how conscious direction and light touch can transform movement and perception.
Through conversations, live demonstrations, and shared practice, we discovered a profound common ground — both ABR and AT work from within outward, using gentle, intelligent touch to awaken the body’s own capacity for change.
Leonid was particularly impressed by the Alexander teachers’ precision and lightness of touch — a quality that mirrors the essence of ABR’s fascia work.
Together, we explored how these complementary approaches can enhance learning, structure, and resilience in both fields.
Part of the Summit included a live ABR assessment and training session with Hailey McAvoy, a professional singer with cerebral palsy, illustrating how ABR can further support the progress achieved through Alexander work.
“When two languages of body wisdom meet — one built from inside out, the other from perception to action — new possibilities of transformation open.” — Leonid Blyum
Thank you to Ann Rodiger, Hailey McAvoy, and the Balance Arts Center team for your openness, insight, and dedication. We’re excited to continue this dialogue, exploring how fascia intelligence and conscious coordination can join forces to support transformation from within.
