Congratulations as well to the friend of that is getting married on our grading day, so I had to promote her early on the podium instead.

Had a fantastic time in Florence attending a coaching camp for those keen on implementing the constraints led approach in grappling.

Big thanks to and for organising and sharing their understanding/framework for coaching jiujitsu. is a great gym too for anyone looking to train in Florence.

Was asked recently by to take over as head referee of and was very happy to accept, and look forward to being part of more big events going forward.

Refereeing is obviously a hard job, but as a fan of sports myself I believe my duty as a ref is to effectively be a non-talking point and I will endeavour to make this the case.

Part of this will be to provide a level of education on the rules to competitors and coaches - ADCC rules can be complicated, but they tend to also make for some very exciting matches that I was happy to witness from the closest seat in the house at the recent Asia trials (except and trying to run me over. Pls no).

First time having our kids team compete today at the interclub for and what a great day it was. All of the kids showed great character, effort and determination today. But more importantly, fun was had.

Also, couldn't get an opponent to do jiujitsu with him, so game as anything he decided to do Sambo rules with 10 hours of total grappling experience. Had to teach him Sambo rules yesterday and he showed up and did fantastically well.

About 10 years ago, I won my judo black belt in a lineup. This was the one I got myself. Last month I was fortunate to be the first person awarded coaching bars by and we decided that it would be best to get the red sash and coaching bars sewn onto my first black belt. It ended up taking a while to get it sewn on, so last night was the first time I got to wear my redesigned belt. In our school. Forever grateful for the trust and love given to me by Chance. Now to make this belt fade to white again.
