Is traction holding patients back?
For years, traction tables and inversion devices have been used to pull on the spine and try to relieve back or neck pain.
On paper it sounds simple. Create space, reduce pressure, feel better.
But the spine is not that simple. And for a lot of people, traction just does not give lasting results.
At Back In Health Singapore, we have invested in IDD Therapy, a modern, computer guided form of non surgical spinal decompression.
We are also the first clinic in Singapore to offer IDD Therapy, which I am pretty excited about. https://iddtherapy.com/
So what is the difference?
Traction
• Pulls the whole area in a straight line
• The body often fights back with muscle tightening and spasm
• There is very little adjustment based on how your body is actually responding
IDD Therapy
• Targets the exact spinal level shown on your MRI, for example L4/5 or L5/S1
• Uses gentle, rhythmic cycles of stretch and relax, with small movements that help muscles switch off and discs rehydrate
• Applies smooth, computer controlled forces rather than sudden pulls
• Follows established protocols for non surgical spinal decompression with safety limits built in
Who is it for?
People with lumbar or cervical disc bulges, herniations, sciatica, degenerative disc problems, or stubborn back and neck pain that has not improved with hands on care may be good candidates for IDD Therapy.
At Back In Health, IDD Therapy is one part of a bigger plan. We combine it with osteopathic treatment, specific exercises and practical advice to help you build a stronger, more confident spine, not just chase pain relief.
If you are in Singapore and thinking about non surgical spinal decompression, or you have tried traction and been disappointed, it might be time to look at something more advanced.
And if you are overseas and have been told you need spinal surgery, consider this an invitation. Come to Singapore for a tax free holiday, do an intensive block of IDD Therapy and osteopathic care with us, and see how much you can improve before you decide on surgery.
If you want to chat, send me a message. I am happy to look at your scans and give you an honest opinion about whether IDD Therapy makes sense for you.
