If your eyelids look droopy, double eyelid surgery is not always the full answer.
Some people have underlying ptosis blepharoptosis where the eyelid lifting mechanism is weak or stretched. In that situation, creating a crease alone may make the eyes look slightly brighter, but the droop can remain.
The right first step is an assessment to confirm whether it is excess skin or true ptosis. If ptosis is present, it can often be corrected together with double eyelid surgery for a more open, balanced result.

Football competitions demand more than speed and stamina. Two things that can quietly hold players back are breathing and vision.
If you are constantly mouth breathing during matches, feel blocked on one side, or have a history of nose injury, it may be more than “just allergy” and can affect comfort during high intensity games.
And if your upper lids feel heavy, one eye looks more droopy, or your field of view feels partially covered, it is worth checking for underlying eyelid droop such as ptosis.
A proper assessment helps identify what is going on and what options are suitable, whether the goal is function, form, or both.

A droopy upper eyelid is not always just a cosmetic concern. In ptosis (also called blepharoptosis), the eyelid can sit lower than normal and in some cases reduce the original field of vision.
Ptosis can happen for a few reasons
-the lifting muscle is weak
-the nerve to the muscle has a problem
-most commonly, the muscle’s tendon (aponeurosis) becomes frayed or detached
✨ What ptosis surgery does
Ptosis surgery focuses on repairing the lifting mechanism. We go in surgically to repair the aponeurosis that is frayed or detached, and use permanent sutures to secure it so the eyelid can open more fully again, helping to restore a more natural lid position and the original field of vision.
If you notice a persistently droopy lid, uneven eyes, or heavy lids that affect daily comfort, a proper assessment helps confirm the cause and the right approach.
If your vision feels blocked or people often ask why you look sleepy, ptosis could be the reason.
In this video, Dr Samuel from Allure Plastic Surgery shares what ptosis surgery is, how ptosis may affect everyday life, and the treatment options available to help correct it.

Self love starts with inner confidence, and sometimes that confidence comes from feeling like your refreshed self again, beginning with the eyes often called the window to the soul.
Eyelid concerns such as hooded lids or a droopy upper eyelid can make you look tired even when you are well rested. They may also affect daily comfort. If this has been bothering you for some time, it is okay to explore your options.
✨ Eyelid surgery is personalised and both function and appearance are considered.
Depending on individual assessment, it may help to:
create a natural looking eyelid crease
reduce the appearance of heaviness or puffiness
support a refreshed and balanced look
in selected cases, improve visual comfort
Every eye is different. The aim is to support a result that suits your features and feels natural to you.

Eyelids affect more than appearance — they can impact vision too.
If your upper lids feel heavy, look droopy, or you’re constantly raising your brows to see better, it may be more than “tired eyes”. In some cases, eyelid concerns can narrow the visual field and affect daily comfort — while also changing the way your eyes look in photos.
✨ Eyelid surgery is about function and form
Depending on your needs, treatment may help to:
open up the eye area for a brighter, more rested look
address hooded lids / droopy eyelids (ptosis)
restore a natural, balanced eyelid crease
Every eye is different. Treatment is planned to support a refreshed and natural looking appearance.
