The Life Celebrant

The Life Celebrant A Funeral is not a day in a life, but a Lifetime in a Day.™

Attention to details is our specialty

Angjolie Mei, who is a certified funeral celebrant, funeral director, as well as a financial advisory representative, aspires to combine the funeral and financial industries into a one-stop “cradle to grave” service to the community. She hopes this would enable her to continue her father’s legacy of “Ang Yew Seng Funeral Parlour” and better it together with “The Life Celebrant”. The Life Celebrant

’s services will encompass:

- pre-planning and pre-arrangement before one’s death to pave the way for those left behind, eg: Emotional Wills, Trusts and Advanced Medical Directive
- funeral pre-planning arrangement
- organizing funerals, and
- post-funeral administration eg: guidance to relevant legal advisers to administer the estate

Angjolie and her team also provide awareness seminars to various corporations and organizations, on the importance of pre-planning in funeral arrangement to help families prepare for the inevitable eventuality.”

In her words, Angjolie says, “I hope through giving extra care and through innovation, The Life Celebrant may bring about the changes needed to make funerals more meaningful to both the lives of the deceased and their loved ones”.

How blessed we are to be entrusted with celebrating the life of a remarkable father.

Johnnie’s family chose joy over sorrow and in one quiet, unplanned moment, it felt like he was still with them. 🎶

A handmade casket, the size of a crib. A pillow no bigger than two hands.

Soft cotton, stars and moons, tucked in by hand.

This is Episode 2 of The Smallest Farewells and this is how we prepare a resting place for our angel stars.

Every detail chosen with love. Every step done with care. Because even the briefest lives deserve a farewell made from the heart 🤍

# Funeral

People ask us what’s different about a life celebration.

We could tell you. But this shows it better.

She loved to paint. So her casket was covered in her art, every brushstroke a world she had built, now surrounding her one last time. Something her family could see, and touch, and remember her by.

You won’t find that in a catalogue. You won’t find it in a package or a price list. You find it by sitting with a family, listening carefully, and asking the question that changes everything…

Who was she, really?

A life celebration isn’t a different kind of funeral. It’s a completely different kind of goodbye. One that begins not with tradition, but with the person, how she lived, what she loved, the mark she left on everyone in that room.

Goodbye doesn’t mean the end. It means learning to love them in a new way, carrying them forward in your heart, your choices, your life. 🌅

Life after loss isn’t about “moving on.” It’s about moving forward while bringing them with you. Their love shaped you. Their memory guides you. Their absence hurts, but their presence remains eternal.

You can grieve deeply and still laugh freely. You can honor their memory and still build new dreams. You can miss them every day and still thrive. This isn’t betrayal, this is exactly what they’d want for you. 💫

At The Life Celebrant, we support your journey through both farewell and forward, helping you create meaningful goodbyes that celebrate life continuing.

A gentle reminder that the life you’re living right now is worth showing up for fully, wholeheartedly, and without holding back.

Call the person you’ve been meaning to reach out to. Take the trip you keep postponing. Say “I love you” a little more than feels necessary. Chase the dream you’ve been quietly talking yourself out of.

Because at the end of it all, what we hold onto isn’t the things we did, it’s the moments we were truly present for.

You don’t need a perfect life to live a full one. You just need to be in it.

These paper crane carries more than paper, it also carries our love, our prayers, and our memories to heaven. 🕊️✨

Swipe to discover the beautiful story behind this ancient Japanese tradition and why we fold 1,000 cranes to honor those we’ve lost.

At The Life Celebrant, we incorporate this meaningful ritual into our Showers of Love (留心语) service, allowing families to express their love through the sacred art of origami.

Each fold is a prayer. Each crane is a message of love that soars beyond this world. 💜

I’ve always found it beautiful how certain gestures can hold entire philosophies within them.

In Chinese funeral traditions, we bow three times not out of obligation, but as a way of placing ourselves within something much larger than our individual grief.

There’s something profoundly humbling about that is about recognizing that our sorrow exists within a vast mystery we may never fully understand. When words fail us in the face of loss, sometimes our bodies know what to do. Sometimes a bow says what a thousand words cannot: I see you. I honor you. I release you to something greater than myself.

Not every culture practices this tradition, and that’s beautiful too. But for those who do, these three bows become a quiet conversation between the living and the departed, between what we know and what remains unknowable.

What are the gestures or rituals that help you honor loss in your own life?
