I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor over the past three years. Matt has played a huge part in shaping the clinician I’ve become and I’ll always be grateful for that.
What always stood out was that he never had anything to gain from supporting me and yet he did, time and time again. Even whilst running his own physio practice it never stopped him from being there for me. When I had tricky cases, he was never too busy to talk them through, give me practical advice, and share the kind of tips that instantly made me a better practitioner. Some of my favourite moments were those gaps in the diary where we’d be putting the world to rights in between patient discussions! 😂
Matt also had this way of making me feel valued, asking for my opinion on his own cases, whether that was from a footwear perspective or a running analysis angle. That respect went both ways, and it gave me so much confidence as a young clinician. He’s basically a walking literature review, but the best part is he breaks it down into the key takeaways you actually need.
I know most people would expect my mentor to be another podiatrist, but having a physio as my mentor has been brilliant. It gave me a completely different lens on patient care, helped me blend what I learned at uni with a rehab-driven approach, and it’s a big part of why I love exercise prescription so much today.
We even started a podcast together; there were highs, lows, and plenty of moments where I felt out of my depth, but Matt always pushed me to keep going. And he was right, I learnt so much from it. Somehow, we managed not to kill each other, and the podcast will live on with Matt diving deep into everything health and performance (with me popping back now and then as a guest). If that’s your thing, follow along at .
Matt - thank you. For the time, the wisdom, the laughs, and the belief. You’ve made a bigger difference than you probably realise.
If you are a physio in Singapore looking for a new opportunity consider as a place to be pushed to be the best physio you can be with a supportive and high quality team.
Looking forward to the next chapter.
