Watch as Dr Don shares about a memorable case of a man who was told he was going blind due to severe glaucoma. 👁️

After a thorough examination, Dr Don discovered that the real cause was a subluxed lens, not glaucoma. The patient underwent surgery to secure the lens, and made a remarkable recovery, regaining his vision and even going off his glaucoma medication.

👁️ What Does an Ophthalmologist Eat for Better Eye Health?

Did you know your diet plays a key role in preventing dry eyes and age-related macular degeneration (AMD)? Here’s what Dr Don recommends including on your plate 👇

🥗 Omega-3s: Oily fish like tuna, salmon, or sardines
🌱 Vegetarian option: Flaxseed oil for your omega boost
🍇 Antioxidants: Colourful fruits and cruciferous veggies (think berries, kale, broccoli)
🍗 Lean proteins: Chicken, eggs, or tofu to support overall eye health
🚫 Avoid: Processed foods that can worsen inflammation

Small changes in your diet can go a long way in protecting your sight. 👀

Here are 4 simple ways to relieve tired eyes:
✨ Use a heat mask for 15 minutes to relax your eyes
💧 Apply preservative-free eye drops every 1–2 hours and take short breaks to look into the distance
🖥️ Add an anti-glare screen film to reduce reflections and improve focus
🔍 Regular eye checks help make sure your glasses or contact lenses are the right fit for your eyes

Need another reason to stop rubbing your eyes? Here’s one 🚨

Dr Don shares a fascinating case of a patient whose lens became dislocated (subluxed) after repeated violent sneezes and constant eye rubbing — leading to a sharp decline in vision.

While a simple surgery restored his sight, this serves as a strong reminder: don’t rub your eyes! And if you have an artificial lens that isn’t working as well as before, book your check-up ASAP.
