Freedom Cups

Freedom Cups Freedom Cups is a social enterprise that distributes menstrual cups to women. Freedom Cups is an organisation that get menstrual cups to women.

We work on a buy-1, give-1 model where every cup purchased allows us to give a cup to a woman from an underprivileged community. This allows for a win-win situation where women in the developed world decrease their use of non-biodegradable sanitary products, and women in developing communities gain access to proper sanitation over the course of their periods. We ship worldwide, and Freedom Cups can be purchased at www.freedomcups.org.

this Menstrual Health Awareness Month, we're holding space for the women and girls caught in crisis.

in conflict zones, managing your period becomes an added layer of hardship.
access to clean water, privacy, and basic necessities is uncertain. menstrual care is often overlooked, and though essential, period products are rarely prioritised in humanitarian aid.

you can help ๐Ÿซถ

each hygiene kit (SGD 194) sponsors one family and includes essentials like sanitary pads, soap, detergent, toothpaste, and more. custom amounts are welcome ๐Ÿ’š

if you're not in a place to give, sharing this post helps too ๐Ÿ“ฃ

at Freedom Cups, we believe menstruation should never be a source of silence or stigma.

this quote is a powerful reminder of how far we still have to go in understanding, accepting, and supporting something so natural.

beyond Menstrual Health Awareness Month, we'll keep working to shift the narrative.

we asked ChatGPT: what if men had periods instead of women?

would Nike be designing high-performance pads? would period leave be standard in every job? would schools teach boys about their cycles from a young age? would menstrual products be free and widely available?

this little thought experiment underscores the reality that, menstruation has been stigmatized and under-prioritized for too long.

so this International Womenโ€™s Day, weโ€™re doing what weโ€™ve been doing for 10 (!!) years now and highlighting the struggles women have faced and the fight for period equity.

in the absence of local coverage, we took it upon ourselves to delve into the reports surrounding the case of Dr. Moumita Debnath. by sharing her story, we are ensuring that the injustices she faced are acknowledged, and that her experiences are not forgotten. we can collectively push for a system that truly supports and protects marginalized and vulnerable people.

her story matters, and by amplifying it, we stand against the silence that so often allows such tragedies to continue.

we know our socials have been a little quiet lately, but that's because we often work in sensitive environments, supporting people who need to keep their identities private.

recently, we had the opportunity to visit an international shelter in Thailand that houses victims of s*x trafficking and commercial s*xual exploitation. during our visit, we led a session discussing reproductive health and distributed Freedom Cups to the residents - just in time for their swimming session the next day. here are some things we learned:

OVER 6.3 MILLION PEOPLE WORLDWIDE ARE TRAFFICKED FOR S*X EACH YEAR. Thailand is a destination, transit, and source country for trafficked individuals. Trafficking and exploitation take many forms, from forced labor in the fishing industry and housekeeping in hotels to s*x trafficking and illegal prostitution.

our NGO partner has been doing meaningful work to help people in these situations by providing them with safe housing (among many other things).

these sessions remind us of the importance of the work we do. by equipping menstruators with Freedom Cups, we offer them a reliable and long-term solution without the need for frequent replacements. this reduces their financial burden and ensures consistent access to menstrual products.

we remain dedicated to empowering menstruators globally, even when we can't always share every story ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒฟ World Environment Day ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒ

this is how much waste is produced over the course of ONE period by a single menstruator. now, multiply that by 450 (the number of periods a menstruator has on average) and by about 800 million (the number of menstruators there are out there). that's a huge amount of waste!

a single menstrual cup can replace hundreds of pads and tampons? by choosing reusable period products, you're not only taking care of your body but also making a significant impact on our planet.

join the movement for sustainable periods and help us reduce waste, one cup at a time ๐Ÿ’š
