🙋♀️ Hands up if you’ve been avoiding lubricating eyedrops because you thought your eyes might get “addicted”!

This is one of the most common myths we hear and it’s stopping people from getting the relief their eyes actually need.

Your eyes cannot become dependent on moisture. If they feel dry or tired, use your eyedrops. 💧

Still not enough? Book an appointment with us and we're here to help.

A comprehensive eye examination goes beyond reading letters. It can reveal eye strain, uneven workload between your eyes, and subtle retinal changes linked to general health. You don’t need to catch every detail. That’s our role. Simply share any changes or symptoms you’ve noticed, even if they seem small.

Being able to read your own prescription helps you understand why your glasses or contacts are prescribed a certain way.
But remember: a prescription only describes how to focus light for clear vision. It doesn’t tell us if your eye pressure, retina or optic nerve are healthy, that’s what a full eye exam is for.

‘I see fine, so my eyes should be healthy, right?’
Not always.

20/20 vision only tells us how clearly you can see letters at a distance. It does NOT tell us if your eye pressure is high, if your retina is healthy, or if glaucoma is quietly damaging your optic nerve.
Some of the most serious eye diseases can start with no symptoms at all.

Save this and share with someone who always says ‘My eyes are fine.’

It happens more often than you think! Busy schedules, travel, family gatherings. For many people it’s safe to delay a routine visit a little, especially if your last check was recent and your vision feels stable. But new symptoms like sudden blur in one eye, new distortions, flashes, floaters, pain or redness are a good reason not to keep waiting.

If you have conditions such as diabetes, glaucoma, high myopia or known retinal problems, a regular follow-up is especially important to keep a close eye on changes over time.

This post is for general education and does not replace medical advice, for personalised recommendations, please speak to an eye care professional. Book a consultation with Atlas Eye today.

Do straight lines look wavy, or does the centre of your vision seem blurred or grey? 👀
These changes can happen when the macula, the central part of the retina, is affected. While wavy lines do not always mean a serious condition, they are an important sign that an eye check is needed, especially if the change is new or affecting daily tasks.

Central vision changes can be easy to dismiss—until reading, recognising faces or seeing details becomes harder. AMD & Low Vision Awareness Month is a good reminder to ask older family members how they are actually seeing, not just whether their glasses are ‘okay’. Small clues in everyday life often appear before people come forward on their own.
