This morning, we are honoured to have Mr Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Digital Development and Information & Ministry of Health, to grace the opening ceremony of the 26th SGH Annual Scientific Meeting. The biennial two-day Meeting seeks to inspire healthcare professionals to push the boundaries in research and education, and healthcare delivery for the betterment of our patients.

This year, we also officially launched the SingHealth Duke-NUS Allergic Diseases Centre, which aims to provide an integrated approach across the entire care continuum, as patients face an increasing prevalence and complexity of allergic dieases in Singapore.

“You Rise Again” is a heartfelt song created by SGH's Liver & Pancreas Support Group.

This song was crafted through a special workshop with Ms Crystal Goh, singer-songwriter from Diamonds on the Street, who listened deeply as members of the support group shared their stories, hopes, and struggles.

From these reflections, the song was shaped into inspiring lyrics that speak of resilience, love, and the courage to keep going.

Each line carries a message of strength and solidarity; reminding us that even in the darkest times, hope remains and that no matter what you are going through, you are not alone.

Together, we share, we sing, and we rise.

What if patient safety could be strengthened while making care delivery smoother for healthcare teams?

In this episode of the SGH Hospital of the Future podcast, Professor David Bates, Medical Director of Clinical and Quality Analysis at Mass General Brigham (MGB), shares how health information systems, data, and active surveillance are helping healthcare organisations identify risks earlier, reduce patient harm, and support more reliable care delivery.

Building on this, Dr Jasmine Ong shares how Artificial Intelligence is being used to support patient safety through innovations like Swiftie at SGH, autonomous mobile robots that help streamline medication delivery and reduce the need for manual trips. This improves tracking so medicines reach the correct patient and location, improves staff experience, and enables potentially hazardous drugs such as chemotherapy to be safely handled and delivered, reducing risk to healthcare workers.

Together, these insights highlight how technology and data, when applied thoughtfully, can strengthen both safety and care delivery.

Join hosts Dr Goh Su-Yen and Dr Jasmine Ong as they hear from Professor David Bates on innovation in patient safety.
