Blood cancer occurs when abnormal blood cells in the bone marrow grow uncontrollably. These cells reduce normal blood cell production. They then enter the blood stream, spread throughout the body and reduce your ability to fight infection.

There are three main types of blood cancers: leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. See the images below to learn more about each type.

Today, we celebrate World Radiotherapy Awareness Day – a day to highlight the vital role radiotherapy plays in modern cancer care.

Thanks to continuous advancements in technology and research, radiotherapy has become an increasingly critical part of cancer treatment, contributing to exceptional patient outcomes. It is recommended for over half of all cancer diagnoses worldwide and can be used either as a standalone treatment or alongside therapies such as chemotherapy and surgery to achieve the best possible results.

At Icon, we put these advancements into practice. Using evidence-based radiotherapy techniques and state-of-the-art technology, we deliver precise treatment to tumours of all sizes, types, and locations, ensuring every patient receives the highest standard of care.
