"What we want to do is use AI to humanise healthcare. We call it AI with humans in the loop."

In a recent conversation with Ravi from The Straits Times, Wai Hoe shares how he sees AI helping in - better diagnostic decisions for doctors, less paperwork for clinicians so they can spend more time with patients, and enable smoother operations overall. 🏥

He's also optimistic about Gen Z healthcare professionals: "They can be very altruistic. If they have strong beliefs in something, they will be full on and they will do an excellent job – way better than us. It is all about motivating them and giving their lives meaning and purpose." 💪

We started with a simple idea in 2013: "Neighbours for Active Living" - recognising that neighbours are often the closest support when family isn't nearby. We placed care staff trained in health and social care right in the heart of neighbourhoods, working with grassroots organisations, religious groups, schools, public agencies and private companies.

Today, our Healthier Singapore Teams combine primary care providers, community nurses, Wellbeing Coordinators (WBCs) and community partners across 30+ geographically defined zones, delivering holistic, person-centred care throughout residents' life course.

The impact? Residents experienced fewer health crises requiring emergency care, spent less time in hospital when they did need treatment, and gained better control over their chronic conditions. Most importantly, seniors maintained their independence longer while feeling more connected and supported in their own communities.

By empowering communities and building strong cross-sector partnerships, we achieved tangible health outcomes while restoring dignity and social connection for seniors in Singapore.

This work has earned recognition in the Global Top 30 Improvers Awards – recognising 30 individuals and teams who are leading change and shaping the future of healthcare improvement. is shortlisted among the top 6 for the Best Cross-Organisation Collaboration Award at the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare.

What a joy to celebrate CNY with our elderly residents at Henderson CC! Our nurses organised a wonderful dinner and evening of performances to bring cheer and company to the community. Our nurses have truly become part of this community, showing that healthcare extends far beyond hospital walls. 🧡

Grateful to be part of their lives in more ways than one, and to Ms Joan Pereira, MP for Tanjong Pagar GRC, for joining us in this celebration of care and connection.

Singapore General Hospital is ranked 10th globally in Newsweek's World's Best Hospitals 2026 - our 8th consecutive year amongst the world's best! This year, has three hospitals in the global top 250, with Changi General Hospital (CGH) ranking 4th nationally - showing how we are collectively defining tomorrow's medicine and transforming healthcare delivery through research, innovation, and community-centred care.

This recognition fuels our drive to push even further in:

- Community Empowered Population Health System: We're transforming how entire communities stay healthy. SingHealth Community Hospitals' designation as WHO's first Collaborating Centre for Social Prescribing and our recognition in their Global Network for Age-Friendly Cities shows we're leading the way.

- Digital Academic Medical Centre: We've joined forces with world-renowned institutions to unlock greater insights from diverse patient populations globally to accelerate breakthroughs that matter.

- From Ideas to Impact: Innovation can't just live in labs. ALICE innovation centres have been set up across CGH, KK Women's and Children's Hospital and Sengkang General Hospital over the past two years. We're turning brilliant ideas into real solutions that transform patient care.

Congratulations to our colleagues on this well-deserved recognition, and to all our healthcare heroes across the SingHealth cluster who make excellence in patient care possible every day. 🧡

Patients getting their MRI scans at the newly opened SingHealth MRI Centre at Dunearn Village will not only spend less time in the machines, but be in a more relaxed environment too.

Opened in partnership with United Imaging Healthcare (UIH), the Centre features three new MRI machines that are integrated with advanced AI tech that cuts scan times by up to 25%. Two of the three machines also feature the ultra-wide 75cm bore – the industry’s largest MRI bore to date – improving patient comfort, reducing anxiety through the larger space and accommodating a broader range of body sizes.

These deeply human-centred elements are part of our philosophy to combine advanced diagnostic imaging technologies with elevated patient experience. Click in for more details.
