Accepting your body is a very important practice. You are already beautiful as you are; you don’t have to be anyone else.

To experience Gratitude on the Mat doesn’t require doing bendy poses. The simple practice of setting an intention or dedication at the beginning of a practice and carrying that with you in your mind and in your thoughts throughout the practice, is a great way to start.🤍

We can try focusing on how lucky we are that we can move our body, to have the time to practice and with others in a yoga community. Being grateful for what we learn about our body, our mind, our Self every time we present ourselves on the mat!

Practices of gratitude/ positivity are more essential than ever to our individual and global wellbeing. Gratitude can be practiced on and off the mat, and it makes a tremendous difference to the way we experience life. When we consciously count our blessings and practice gratefulness intentionally, we experience more happiness, express more compassion and kindness, sleep better and have stronger immune systems. The tiniest of expressions of joy helps!

Yoga is a wonderful exercise and lifestyle for older adults/ seniors, to feel better physically and mentally. It helps improve flexibility, balance, and strength as we age. Whether we prefer a gentle, relaxing practice or a more active, challenging style, adding yoga to your daily routine can help you stay independent, reduce stress, and enjoy a healthier, happier life.

Generally, styles like chair yoga, hatha yoga, restorative yoga, yin yoga, and yoga therapy are highly recommended.

The benefits of yoga for older adults are plenty! Regular yoga practice can (1) improve flexibility, strength, and balance ~ reducing the risk of falls, (2) enhance mental well-being ~ reducing stress and anxiety, (3) promotes better posture and mobility ~ contributing to a more active and healthier lifestyle and lastly, (4) breathing exercises during the practice improves lung capacity, overall respiratory and cognitive health.

Seniors are encouraged to engage in yoga practice at least 2-3 times a week. But it is also crucial to listen to one’s body and adjust the frequency based on personal comfort and energy levels.
