In this room, we remember..

She carried more than what people could see.
Loving someone who struggles with addiction is not easy.

There are nights of uncertainty, moments of fear, and hope that things will get better.

Drug abuse leaves a ripple effect β€”
far beyond the individual.

Today, we remember the silent strength of families.

A Story of Our Pledge to Stay Drug Free

We did more than just write words on paper.
We wrote down a promise β€” to ourselves, to our loved ones, and to the future we want to protect.

One by one, pens touched paper as pledges were made to stay drug free.

We also observed a minute of silence in remembrance of those who have lost their lives due to drugs β€” through overdose, violence, imprisonment, and the many painful consequences that addiction can bring.

And beyond those lives lost, we remember the families who continue to carry the pain silently β€” parents, children, siblings, and loved ones affected by the actions and impact of drug abuse.

This was not just an activity.
It was a moment of reflection.
A moment of accountability.
A moment of unity.

πŸ•―οΈ In remembrance of those we lost.
✍️ In commitment to a drug-free life.
🀍 In support of families still healing.

In this room, we remember..

He was not the one using.
But he felt the weight of it β€”
the worry, the silence, the emotional toll.

Drug abuse does not affect just one person.
It affects everyone connected to them.

Behind every struggle, there is often a family trying to hold things together.

Today, we remember their strength too.

πŸ“šπŸ’› Desistance & RNR Model in Action at Ultimate Friends SG πŸ’›πŸ“š

At Ultimate Friends SG, we believe recovery is not just about stopping harmful behaviours β€” it is about rebuilding identity, purpose, relationships, and direction in life.

This is where the Desistance Model and RNR Model (Risk, Need, Responsivity) play an important role in the way we support our community.

Many of our own Peer Mentors and Peer Trainees are living examples of these models in action.

Some once struggled with addiction, incarceration, broken relationships, unemployment, and hopelessness. Today, they are stepping up to facilitate sessions, mentor others, organise community programmes, support outreach efforts, and become positive role models within the recovery community.

Their journeys remind us that desistance is not a one-time event β€” it is a continuous process of growth, change, and choosing a different path every day.

At UFSG, we do not only focus on β€œwhat went wrong.”
We focus on:
✨ what can still be rebuilt
✨ what strengths can be developed
✨ and how individuals can move from recovery into leadership and community impact

✨ Recovery becomes stronger when change is supported by structure, guidance, accountability, and community.

πŸ’›πŸŽ€ Kugan’s Story β€” Turning Pain into Purpose πŸŽ€πŸ’›

Kugan courageously stepped forward to share his personal and emotional journey β€” a story filled with struggles, hardships, and the realities of growing up around addiction and difficult circumstances.

Through his sharing, he opened up about the emotional pain, challenges, and impact it had on his life and relationships. Yet despite the difficulties he faced, Kugan chose to rise above his past and move forward with strength and purpose.

Today, he uses his experiences not to seek sympathy, but to create awareness, inspire change, and remind others that no matter how dark the past may be, transformation is always possible.

His story is a powerful reminder that healing takes time, but every step forward matters.

✨ Sometimes the people who went through the most pain become the strongest voices for change.

πŸ’›πŸŽ€ Afiqah’s Story β€” A Voice from the Youth Wing πŸŽ€πŸ’›

One of our Ultimate Friends SG Youth Wing, Afiqah, courageously came forward to share her heartwarming and emotional story as the daughter of a person in recovery.

Behind her smile was years of pain, confusion, and longing β€” growing up while her mother was away for a long time. The absence, emotional struggles, and unanswered questions were experiences she carried silently through her childhood.

Yet despite everything she went through, Afiqah chose not to let her past define her future.

Today, she stands bravely as a youth advocate, turning her pain into purpose β€” hoping her story can create awareness, inspire healing, and remind others that children are often the silent victims affected by addiction as well.

Her sharing was not just emotional β€” it was honest, powerful, and deeply meaningful.

✨ Sometimes the strongest voices come from those who once suffered in silence.

πŸ’›πŸ“š Peer Support Programme β€” β€œFrom Iron Bars to Gold Standard” πŸ“šπŸ’›

Our recent Peer Support Programme session was conducted by Chris Adrian, featuring the powerful topic:
✨ β€œFrom Iron Bars to Gold Standard” ✨

The session explored important concepts on Desistance and the RNR Model (Risk, Need, Responsivity) β€” helping participants better understand the rehabilitation journey, personal change, decision-making, and the importance of building a prosocial lifestyle.

Through meaningful sharing and discussions, participants gained deeper insights into:
πŸ”Ή breaking old patterns
πŸ”Ή understanding risk factors
πŸ”Ή building positive support systems
πŸ”Ή sustaining long-term recovery and reintegration

Recovery is not only about staying away from negative influences β€” it is also about rebuilding identity, purpose, and direction in life.

Thank you, Chris Adrian, for the impactful session and valuable learning experience shared with our community.

✨ Change becomes possible when knowledge meets action.
