Many patients have no symptoms until permanent vision loss occurs. With reports of younger adults developing glaucoma, awareness and screening are more important than ever.

Risk factors for glaucoma include:

🔴 Family history of glaucoma
🔴 Age >40
🔴 High eye pressure
🔴 Diabetes or vascular disease
🔴 High myopia (high short-sightedness)

Early detection through regular eye screening can help preserve your vision.

Grateful for the trust of a dear friend 🙏

This post is dedicated to Dr , whom I’ve known since our medical school days (shared with his permission). When he recently developed worsening blurred vision in one eye due to a cataract, I was honoured that he entrusted me with his surgery.

The operation went smoothly and he is now seeing clearly again 👁️✨

A special thanks as well to our Anaesthetist, Dr Eileen () — also our medical school classmate — for her support during the operation. It’s always meaningful when friends come together to care for one another ❤️

In recent years, I’m seeing more patients who have already asked ChatGPT about their eye symptoms before coming to the clinic.

As highlighted in the Lifestyle article on the perils of AI health advice, reassurance from a chatbot can be misleading.

What looks like “just dry eye” online may be:
⚠️ Keratitis
⚠️ Uveitis
⚠️ Acute glaucoma

These are not conditions you can diagnose without a slit-lamp examination 🔍

AI can inform.
But only a proper eye exam can protect your vision 👁️✨
