Care for the Elderly Foundation Singapore Care for the Elderly Foundation (Singapore)

The Foundation had its beginnings as an informal volunteer group in 1992 which provided transport and escort services to elderly and immobile patients who needed to attend specialist outpatient clinics in hospitals. Seeing the need for a more comprehensive approach to helping the frail elderly, the Foundation was formally set up in 1995 and registered as a charity in 1996.

Caregiving requires a delicate balance of love, patience, and responsibilities. As December is a season of love and reflection, we share an excerpt from Ms. Debra’s appreciation letter, highlighting the invaluable support our team extended to the caregiving journey of her late mother, Madam Iris, since early 2023.

At CEF, we believe that every individual matters, right up to their very last moment. While many celebrate the season of giving with our loved ones, we wish to extend the festive joy to our homebound patients and frail elderly with chronic conditions or life-limiting illnesses.

For every $60 donation, CEF Care Team will deliver a bottle of cookies and a greeting card to a patient and their family. Your kind generosity will bring smiles to our beneficiaries this Christmas, as well as allow CEF to support more seniors in receiving essential care at the comfort of their homes.

In celebration of Community Care Day, CEF organised a Staff Appreciation Lunch ahead of 1 November to show appreciation to our colleagues who have worked selflessly to care for the well-being of our homebound patients, as well as give light to their family and caregivers in times of need. It was a valuable moment for the team to foster bonding while enjoying hearty conversations over lunch.

Community Care Day is a day organised by Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) to recognise the hard work and dedication of the professionals in the Community Care sector who support the seniors.

“In caring for others, I forgot the sound of my own heartbeat.”

Behind every act of care lies a heart that gives — and sometimes, forgets to rest.

Principal Medical Social Worker Ng Beng Wee invites caregivers to pause, to understand their coping stances, and to gently transform them into sources of strength and renewal along the caregiving journey.

Join us at the healthcare sharing session on 1 November — a moment to breathe, to feel, and to reconnect with your own heartbeat as you continue caring for those you love.

We recently held a Board of Directors’ Appreciation Lunch to thank our immediate past and present Directors for their guidance and support over the years.

It was a heartwarming gathering especially as we recognised those who have served for 10 years or more with a small token of appreciation.

As a charity, our Board members serve on a voluntary basis without remuneration. Their time, dedication and belief in our mission mean a great deal to us.

We are grateful to our outgoing Board President, Mr Tan Choon Huat, for his unwavering support and steadfast leadership in the last ten years. His thoughtful stewardship has played a vital role in shaping our care journey and strengthening our governance.

Mr Tan will pass the baton to our newly elected Board President, Dr Ong Seh Hong. We look forward to Dr Ong guiding us as we renew our mission in the evolving healthcare landscape.

We are deeply grateful for the leadership and commitment of all who have served. 🙇🫡

On 5 October 2025, Loyang Tua Pek Kong organised a lunch event and a total of 60 beneficiaries from CEF received supermarket vouchers, thanks to the generosity of Loyang Tua Pek Kong Caring Fund.

Over 60 attendees were present and enjoyed lunch over casual conversations with the Chairman of Loyang Tua Pek Kong, Mr Lee Tian Ming and CEF Deputy Executive Director, Mr Bryan Poh.

For those who could not be present at the physical event, they were not forgotten as our Social Worker made arrangements to hand the vouchers to them.

We are deeply grateful to Loyang Tua Pek Kong for their continual compassionate support.
