PADMOTSAVA held on the morning of Feb 9th - jointly presented by Apsaras Dance Company Global Indian Cultural Centre (GICC) and CHETHAS
An event that left all our hearts and souls filled with reverence and gratitude. The whole dance fraternity of Singapore came together as one united family to offer felicitations to the legendary Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam. His Excellency Dr. Shilpak Ambule was the Guest of Honour, who felicitated Dr Padma while highlighting the Bharatiya culture of family values and Guru Shishya Parampara.
The guests were welcomed with festive Dhol Tasha by Maharashtra Mandal and the event opened with Rajarajeshwaram - Tiruvisaipa of Karuvur Tevar which was tuned and choreographed by Dr. Padma and performed by 53 gurus and shishyas from Singapore. This was followed by an address by Aravinth அரவிந்த் Kumarasamy குமாரசாமி on behalf of the entire dance fraternity of Singapore and an address and felicitation by GOH Dr Shilpak Ambule. Vaishnavi Anand and Devi Veerappan along with their students presented a piece on behalf of the student lineage of Dr Padma, which was composed and choreographed by Vaishnavi Anand, after which Vaishnavi spoke on behalf of the student lineage. This was followed by the felicitation ceremony by each of the Gurus and institution representatives offering a lotus bloom to Padhukka. The beautiful take away from the event was Padhukkas insightful and perfectly relevant speech which inspired each and every one of us in the audience. The Neila Sathyalingam endowment award was given to Nikita Menon. This was followed by a beautiful performance by Mahati Kannan who danced immensely intricate and challenging choreographies of Padhukka with such grace and ease. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Sarita Alurkar from GICC and a Mangalam rendered by Dr. Bhagya Murthy
PADMOTSAVA a humble Samarpanam by the Singapore dance fraternity was a beautiful journey and a fulfilling culmination
