Ubin Lantern Night Part 2
月圆花好 aka Moon Round Flower Swee 🌺🌝🌼🌟
Sea Angel is so thankful to have the most wonderful volunteers and participants to celebrate 2025 Mid Autumn Festival together with Ubin villagers in an authentic, handmade kampong house🥰☺️
🌟Highlights🌟
🔴We welcomed a surprise visitor from Australia!! Wow he came directly from Changi Airport by himself just to visit Kopi-O's Tombstone😮The deeds of this humble little dog have travelled far and wide indeed. Of course we invited him to join the festival and let(or made) him try lots of local dishes 😄😋
🟠 Fish Farm Tour : Participants were treated to a cruise up close to Pulau Ubin's last old fish farms - handmade houses on the sea, built by our insanely resilient 1960s generation Singaporeans 🤯 We even got to see traditional salted fish in the making!
🟡Kayaking : Oh no we got complaints😔... that the trip was too short 😆😄 Thank you for loving Pulau Ubin's mangroves!! Next time let's plan a longer adventure! 3D2N??
🟢 FOOD : Mooncakes, Mudcrabs, Meat, Mifen, and MUCH MORE! Thank you so much to Living Fisher Village Chua Family for cooking for festival visitors and sharing your stories with them!! 😍 Big thanks also to Cheong Lian Yuen for their superb fried rice and beehoon! Haha people said YESSS!!! when we told them it was from you😆 Thank you again Kimberly for salad bar and NonEssentialNoms for homebaked mooncakes that the villagers enjoyed very much!!🥰
🔵 Lantern Walk : Each holding just a small lantern, our visitors bravely followed us onto the dark forest paths 🏮😳...
Under the blue, cold moon, as the guide, we had to trust our memory of the route ventured a thousand times during the day. (And also remind ourselves 7th month over liao ) 🏮
❤️🩷🧡💛💚💙🩵💜 Lantern Light Up & Campfire :
The houses came alive with hundreds of meters of solar-powered lights and colourful lanterns, including the cellophane survivors of last year's Sumatran Storm!
As you can see from the pictures, we put just as much heart into organizing as in cleaning up the place afterwards. Paper lanterns and LED lights were patiently, neatly bundled back and tied up to preserve them for the next year.
Please, shall we make this a yearly tradition to get to know the kampongs and the lovely Ubin folks as much as we can? Let's learn their ways of life, quietly and bravely alongside nature.
We hope that Singaporeans will always remember what the kampong represents : our early days of struggle, and through friendship, patience, love and fortitude, Singaporeans persevered.
Without a doubt, the Living Fisher Village was the star... The unique atmosphere, charm and warmth that only handmade houses, regularly loved and lived in, can bring. Tell us, didn't you feel it? Do you remember her name? 望海楼 - The House that Gazes Upon the Sea. And her new sister, 听海轩 ...
Wishing all of you Happy Mid-Autumn Festival 🥰
祝大家中秋节快乐🏮
