Once a year, we gather the entire Stillness Family together to celebrate each other, and all of the hard work makes this the very special place it is.

This is a powerful and emotional gathering, as we reflect on so much growth and precious time spent training beyond limits, laughing together, and discovering parts of ourselves we didn’t know we had.

This year was particularly emotional, as several of our Rooks have graduated and are making their way out into the world. More on this later. 🥹

I was so excited when I was asked to run a mini-course for these young ladies. Recent news about unfortunate events on college campuses are a stark reminder of the importance of self defense skills, and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to help keep others safe. 🙏🏼

While self defense skills benefit from continuous honing, it’s worth understanding that ANY AMOUNT of quality training is a huge advantage over none, and these girls really brought great energy and enthusiasm to every single training session of the course. 🙌🏼

Knowing “techniques” helps, but knowing how to get in touch with The Protector within is a critical piece of the puzzle that can truly help, even when the memories of the “correct” moves fade. 🛡

We do still encourage refreshing skills from time to time. ✊🏼

While we do have separate classes for kids, teens, and adults, we feel it’s good and important to mix things up and combine the student body from time to time.

Yesterday, Robbie and Robert participated in the latest Tap Cancer Out tournament, and we’re very proud of their efforts not only on the competition mat, but also as fundraisers in service of a worthy cause!

Robbie faced a tough opponent, and his opponent ultimately emerged victorious. Robert took an early loss, and came back with a submission victory in his second match. Robert also earned his place as the #1 adult fundraiser for the event. 🙌🏼

Well done gentlemen! Our hats go off to you for being the men “in the arena” and being walking examples of our Academy Core Values!
