By: SaraPosted on December 25, 2020December 25, 2020 A favorite question I like to ask:  “What does desire feel like for you?”   Most often, it’s followed with a blank look, confusion, terror, and/or clarifying questions.  Which makes sense; how often do we think about what a certain feeli...

Some partners avoid conflict because they think they’re keeping the peace. Others stop talking because they fear what might happen after the conversation starts.

According to Dr. John Gottman, conflict-avoidant couples are at greater risk of “drifting apart with zero interdependence over time, and thus being left with a [relationship] consisting of two parallel lives, never touching.”

Don't let unspoken issues and irritants add up until the tension will hit a breaking point. Instead, try using these phrases to break the silence in your relationship: https://bit.ly/2XdhlKz

This weekend I took a long camping trip with Dela. It's been almost a year since she suffered a stroke, underwent brain surgery, and was diagnosed with two autoimmune disorders. Since then, she's been managing chronic pain and arthritis managed by medication. It's been a learning process for sure, for those that love her and for Dela herself. She's had to learn how to walk again, how to communicate about her body, and how to say NO to certain kinds of touching and physical activity. Through all this, she continues to embody deep love for others and excitement when greeted with, "Do you want to go OUTSIDE?!" I'm so proud of her for climbing up a mountain, and for saying NO: asking to be carried, taking frequent breaks. Treat your body well, communicate with loved ones, and notice what your body can accomplish with patience and kindness.

We're going through unprecedented times. It's OK if you are feeling overwhelmed and distracted, and procrastinating some. I've recently written a piece on (in)attention and procrastination if you're looking for something to distract yourself ;)

By: SaraPosted on April 16, 2020April 16, 2020 I’m here today to talk about attention. Do I have yours? Attention is the ability to focus on something – whether your own thoughts, a task at hand, an image where you are trying to find Waldo, or a whiny, tinny sound you juuuust can’t quite make ...
