Each office at NovusACS provides free testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). In addition, NovusACS offers HIV & Hepatitis C Care, Pre-exposure HIV prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV Prevention and post exposure HIV prophylaxis (PEP): for acute HIV exposure. For those who are under or uninsured, our case management staff is available to help navigate the complex system and connect individuals to care, or financial assistance programs.
FREE STI/HIV TESTING
Testing at NovusACS is free and confidential. Anonymous testing can be performed upon request. Every individual is offered testing for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, HIV & Hepatitis C. Individuals may also choose free rapid screening for HIV, Hepatitis C and Syphilis.
FREE STI TREATMENT
Under a state contract, treatment for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Herpes, and Syphilis is available for all individuals, free of charge.
HEPATITIS C RAPID TESTS
An affiliation with the Pennsylvania health department allows NovusACS to provide free Hepatitis C rapid screening. Individuals found to have Hepatitis C antibodies will require further testing to identify the presence of an active infection. Once identified, those with an active Hepatitis C infection will be offered treatment options or a referral for care.
PrEP: HIV PREVENTION
PrEP is a daily medication for people who do not have HIV and are looking to protect themselves from developing an HIV infection. PrEP is both safe and effective. Research indicates that PrEP is up to 99% effective at preventing HIV. Most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid cover PrEP. For those who are under or uninsured, NovusACS participates in the Pennsylvania HIV prevention program to increase access to PrEP. As a result, 99% of individuals pay little or nothing for PrEP.
PEP
PEP is a month-long medication regimen taken to prevent HIV after an accidental exposure. The medications that make up PEP must be started within 72 hours (3 days) after someone has been exposed to HIV. After one month of PEP therapy the individual is tested for HIV and, if negative, the therapy can be discontinued. At that time, the individual may decide to switch to PrEP or resume other methods of HIV prevention.
