Busy weekend at Venel Institute.

We had the opportunity to host physicians from Lehigh Valley for the Advanced Surgical Skills for Exposure in Trauma (ASSET) course.

ASSET is a hands-on surgical training program developed to strengthen a surgeon’s ability to rapidly and safely expose critical anatomy in trauma situations. The course focuses on lifesaving operative exposures, precision under pressure, and improving readiness when seconds matter most.

It’s always impressive to see physicians dedicate their time to sharpening high-acuity skills that directly impact patient outcomes.

Grateful for a strong, engaged group and a productive weekend of surgical education.

A little snow didn’t slow down training efforts between and Applied Medical. Trauma surgeons performed HALS (hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery) Saturday morning.

Busy night with SI Bone. Physicians performed lateral SI joint fusions with hardware and posterior inferior SI joint fusions with allograft. These techniques restore stability, reduce pain, and increase patient’s success rates.

Lehigh Valley surgeons joined us after hours for a hands-on cadaver lab, working directly with Coloplast representatives for focused, practical training and meaningful collaboration.

Great collaboration between , , and during a large temporal bone lab. Focused on multiple procedures with dedicated time for residents to build confidence on drilling techniques.

Evening hip scope labral reconstruction lab with .sportsmedicine before the storm. Venel doesn’t run on traditional hours, so we started this lab around 7 pm once the surgeon wrapped his cases for the day.

Today at Venel Institute, our General Surgery and ER residents got hands training focusing on Bedside Procedures. 
Residents rotated through six sessions, practicing: 
-Pigtail catheter placement
-Tube thoracostomy
-Cricothyrotomy
-Percutaneous tracheostomy
-Open tracheostomy
-Thoracotomy

A focused session of reps, guidance, and hands-on skill-building to prepare them for real-world, high-acuity situations.
