With a change in ownership came a change in company name.
Microbiological Environments was founded in October 1996 by David A. Reifsnyder in Bethlehem, PA. David had many years of industrial microbiology experience before founding the business, working for large pharmaceutical and contract testing laboratories. With his broad microbiology experience and focus on customer service, David quickly grew the company from a staff of one to a full team of microbiologists, quality assurance professionals, and administrative support staff.
In 2016 David retired and sold the company to his long time colleague, Tony Grilli. Tony brings over 35 year of industrial microbiology testing experience to the laboratory, much of it in contract laboratory organizations. Tony also brings experience in Lean Sigma continuous improvement and a broad background in analytical testing.
With a change in ownership came a change in company name. While the laboratory retains its expertise in environmental monitoring, it also proficiency in other areas of analytical support, not reflected in the original company name. With a focus on technology, compliance and customer service, FOCUS Laboratories was a perfect name.
