We had a great time at the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association (AMRPA) in Philadelphia!

As a Diamond Sponsor, we had the pleasure of hosting a special breakfast for attendees, showcasing Good Shepherd’s inpatient, outpatient, physician, long-term and pediatric service lines.

During the week, Chief Medical Officer and AMRPA Board Member Dr. Sandeep Singh presented “Surviving and Thriving in Review Choice Demonstration” and introduced Neuvotion’s Chad Bouton, PhD, for his plenary session.

Dr. Kimberly Kuchinski, Sheri Luther, RRT-NPS, MHA, and Erika Carter, DPT, PT, PCS, from Good Shepherd’s inpatient pediatric hospital presented “Body Weight Support Treadmill Training as a Modality to Wean Ventilator Dependence in Chronic Lung Disease of Prematurity.”

Congratulations to Good Shepherd team members who presented posters as well!

Good Shepherd Rehabilitation, in conjunction with Good Shepherd's MS Wellness Program, hosted the 2nd annual free Multiple Sclerosis Symposium: "The Impact of Technology and Innovation in MS Rehabilitation" at Hyland Center for Health & Technology in Allentown.

The event provided education and insight from Good Shepherd's clinical experts to those living with MS and their care partners, along with offering various resources to improve quality of life.

Participants got to visit with vendors and learn about community resources. They also had the opportunity to hear about creating an exercise wellness plan including benefits and pitfalls from the leader of our MS Wellness Program, Jennifer West.

Thank you to the presenters, exhibitors and attendees for coming!

David, a former professor at Muhlenberg College, has a passion for language and communication. While recovering from stroke, David has worked on recognizing words and practicing how to move his mouth to make speaking easier. Timed speech therapy exercises and techniques, like here with the interactive metronome technology, help David improve his speech and processing skills.

As an official Vivistim evaluation and rehab therapy provider, Good Shepherd continues to train more clinicians to provide the service near you — just like for Christy.

The FDA-approved technology is surgically implanted and uses vagus nerve stimulation to help patients improve the use of hands and arms following stroke.

After surgery, Vivistim therapy services are provided at a number of Good Shepherd outpatient sites throughout eastern Pennsylvania:

- Hyland Center (South Allentown)
- Cedar Pointe (West Allentown)
- Center Valley
- East Greenville
- Souderton
- Stroudsburg
- Palmerton

After her stroke, Christy attends Vivistim therapy at Good Shepherd, working to increase function and independence.
