With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our dear friend, Edward Muschlitz.

For more than two decades, Ed was a devoted part of the Miller-Keystone Blood Center family. Since beginning his volunteer journey in 2000, he gave a staggering 10,000+ hours of his time, and it was always with kindness, humility, and a dedication that touched everyone around him. As a donor, his generosity knew no bounds, giving 113 gallons of blood to help save countless lives.

But beyond the numbers, Ed will be remembered for who he was... a passionate gardener who found joy in nurturing life, especially his beloved tomato plants. He brought that same care, warmth, and steady presence to every person he met.

Ed was more than a volunteer. He was a friend. He was family.

He will be deeply missed, but his legacy lives on in every life he helped save, every smile he shared, and every moment of kindness he gave so freely.

We are grateful for the time we had, and we will carry his memory with us always.

Miller-Keystone Blood Centerโ€™s 2026 Blood Donor Madness campaign was nothing short of incredible, and this year, weโ€™re proud to crown Lehigh University as our champion, earning a $10,000 donation to their scholarship fund! ๐ŸŽ‰

But the real victory? Across 13 participating schools, donors came together to collect enough blood to potentially save over 1,300 lives.

We are beyond grateful to the students, administrations, and especially the coordinators who rallied their communities and made this life-saving impact possible. Your passion and dedication truly made the difference and you should all be incredibly proud of what was accomplished.

Inspired by competitive spirit, this campaign unites hotel teams in a friendly competition to see who can recruit the most donors. By leveraging the industryโ€™s strong community ties and leadership networks, the initiative positions blood donation as a powerful act of service, teamwork, and local pride.

Established in 1971, Miller-Keystone Blood Center (MKBC) is an independent, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) community organization that serves as the only blood provider to 28 hospitals in Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Dauphin, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Northampton, and Schuylkill (PA), and Hunterdon, Warren and Mercer (NJ) counties; only blood donated through MKBC is transfused at these facilities.
