Reflecting on our journey from the early days of self-dispatching with just a cell phone in Fountain Hill, we have grown into a robust team that is the heartbeat of our SLETS and SLUHN families. Our telecommunicators are constantly evolving behind the scenes, making patient transport more effective and safe, and ensuring our front-facing clinicians have the tools and resources to accurately and accountably complete patient care records.
This week, we proudly celebrate National Telecommunicators Week and recognize the incredible dedication and hard work of our Dispatchers at St. Luke’s Communications Center. Our team of 23 amazing dispatchers handles an estimated 68,000 transport requests and 12,000 911 calls annually. They play a crucial role in assisting every flight in and out of the St. Luke’s Network, including coordinating incoming scene flights.
Working hand in hand with St. Luke’s Case Management, PAC Center, Security, Emergency Operators, and all hospital staff, our dispatchers ensure the safe and prompt transport of St. Luke’s patients. Their commitment and teamwork are vital to our operations, and we are grateful for their unwavering support and professionalism.
From the humble beginnings of self-dispatching to becoming an integral part of our healthcare system, our dispatchers have shown remarkable growth and adaptability. They are the unsung heroes who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our community safe and connected. Their dedication and hard work are the backbone of our operations, and we are immensely proud of their contributions.
Join us in honoring these exceptional individuals who make a difference every day.
Thank you, Dispatchers, for all that you do!
