Here I am showing some options for hip opening, while also opening my thoracic spine (the part of our spine that is attached to our ribs).
There is a correlation between our hips and thoracic spine. If you want one to be in alignment, strong and healthy , the other better be! So we must look at full body alignment, strengthening and flexibility to make all the parts work.
Additionally, every movement in the studio gets me ready for every outdoor activity I take on. Not just one exercise or focus for one body part.
Preparation is key to continued movement as we age. Preparation helps us to avoid injury, as well as helps us to work out of injury and strengthen.
Don’t wait until there is an issue to put mindful, meaningful movement into your repertoire. And definitely don’t wait until you get “older” to pay attention and take care of business. Because you will be good until you aren’t any more. The timing is different for everyone but it always seems to catch up with people.
Do it now, do it at any age, but do it sooner rather than later.
