Okay, so I know it is my grandmother's job to send me these kinds of articles, but this one is just ridiculous. Why? It claims tattoo inks are dangerous b/c they're not regulated by the FDA, "which goes after cosmetics with a vengeance." Yeah, right.

And tattoo inks may even contain Mercury & Lead! Wait, you mean like the cosmetics that are "regulated" by the FDA??

"A new FDA study has identified lead in all 20 red lipsticks it tested (from 10 diff. brands),& at concentrations up to 4x higher than those found in independent testing. While the FDA has not regulated lead in lipstick, the levels detected were up to 10-times higher than the safe limit set for lead in candy."

Why is the FDA such a joke??? Read previous postings below about toxic ingredients in lipstick/cosmetics.

The FDA has tested for lead in lipstick and found every brand of lipstick tested contains lead. The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics says there's too much lead in lipstick, but the FDA doesn't seem concerned.

Why does this continue to be the consumer's responsibility? It is scientifically proven BPA is a public health concern... why doesn't the government/FDA ban its use in consumer products?

Like countless other eco-conscious consumers, the Middlesex, Vt., teacher and blogger switched to the aluminum bottles for her two young girls because of bisphenol-A, or BPA, a substance commonly used to harden plastic that has raised health concerns and bedeviled buyers of plastic bottles.

Maybe bisphenol A (BPA) should just be BANNED from being used in consumer containers? Why do keep leaving it up to the businesses to be "tansparent"? Apparently even the companies we think we can trust the most can't seem to regulate themselves...

Trouble continues to mount for the metal reusable water bottle maker SIGG Inc. with outdoor gear company Patagonia announcing Tuesday an end to a co- branding partnership that brought together two iconic companies linking health- conscious consumerism with environmentalism.
