I started with KSP in 2018 because my normal gym routine (mostly just cardio on machines) up to that point was not cutting it. I knew it was not working for me any longer, but I also had no way of figuring out what to do to change it. I started personal training with Katy and then transitioned to a small group before I moved. I had never really lifted weights or done any lifting beforehand so it was a journey to say the least.
I did not ever think I would love lifting weights! Arm days are now my favorite days (weird I know), but I am truly astonished when I can increase the amount of weight I can lift.
I love my morning routine of 6 am workouts. Even when I wake up sluggish, once I get halfway through warm up I am already in a better mood. In general I do not worry about lifting heavy objects any more as my mini muscles make me feel like I can do anything.
I really enjoy the community. I mostly attend online workouts (shout off Jeff and Bridget!) and even though we are not in person together I feel like I know them. We start our days together and hold each other accountable. Due to work outs being online I can log in from anywhere so whether I am home in Orlando, visiting family in Jersey, or on vacation in California in September, I know there is a work out I can do. I love that flexibility to keep myself on a great, healthy routine. It also shows time and again you don’t need to be in a gym to get a great workout.
Honestly just start. I had to take time off because of a surgery and was super nervous to come back. But I set my alarm, woke up on January 2nd, logged in, and just did it. Was it my best workout ever? Absolutely not, but I did it start to finish. Each day it got slightly easier and before I knew it I was back to myself and improving! The KSP community is so encouraging and wants you to be the best you you can be. New things can be scary, but what is scarier is not doing it in the first place.
