Turkey DOES have tryphophan (aka the amino acid that helps produce melatonin), but did you know that it doesn't have enough to cause the post-Thanksgiving sleepiness? This is true - feeling sleepy after having your Thanksgiving meal is due to eating a large amount of carbs and starches and prolonged sitting. So how can we avoid it? By eating small amounts of lean protein earlier in the day and making sure we are moving our bodies!
