A Charleston native and no stranger to orthopedics, Dr. Blocker found his home nestled here in the Lowcountry. Novant Health Hilton Head Primary Care is proud to welcome Jessica Harpell, PA-C to the team. Jessica joins us from a family medicine practice in New Milford, Connecticut, bringing her passion for patient-centered care and dedication to long-term wellness.

From an early age, Jessica was drawn to science and inspired by a deep desire to help others. Her passion for medicine began in high school during an anatomy and physiology class, where she became fascinated with how the human body works. A few years later, while recovering from a soccer injury that required surgery, she met a physician assistant whose skill and encouragement solidified her decision to pursue a career in healthcare.

During college, Jessica worked as an EMT, gaining valuable clinical experience while also serving as class president, a resident assistant, and a member of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society. These roles strengthened her leadership skills and reinforced her commitment to service. She ultimately chose family medicine because it allows her to care for patients of all ages, blending her interests in pediatrics and adult medicine with a strong focus on prevention and long-term wellness.

Jessica takes a patient-centered approach to care, viewing each person as more than a set of symptoms. She believes in the power of listening and asking thoughtful questions to improve both diagnosis and overall care. She often describes the patient–provider relationship as a car ride: the patient is in the driver’s seat, while she sits in the passenger seat helping navigate. Her role is to educate and guide, but the patient ultimately steers their own health journey. Whenever possible, Jessica advocates for lifestyle modifications as a first step, while also recognizing when medication is the most appropriate path to healing.

She is a proud member of the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA).

Originally from Waterford, Connecticut, Jessica now calls South Carolina home. Outside of work, she enjoys staying active outdoors—whether hiking, biking, golfing, sailing, or walking along the beach. She also loves reading, spending time with friends and family, and being involved in her church community. These activities keep her balanced and energized, helping her bring her best self to the patients she serves.

Good Morning!

Novant Health New River Urology is pleased to welcome Dr. Herman “Pete” Parramore, who joined the practice on Monday, September 8, 2025.

Dr. Parramore brings more than 30 years of experience in urology and is board-certified by the American Board of Urology. He completed his medical training at the University of Florida and has practiced in Greenwood, SC prior to joining Novant Health. Known for his patient-centered approach, Dr. Parramore values taking the time to listen and explain diagnoses and treatment options in clear, accessible language.

Originally from South Georgia, Dr. Parramore has three children. Outside of medicine, he enjoys sailing, fishing, attending music festivals, and spending time with his family. His move to the coast reflects his passion for sailing and desire to enjoy the water more frequently.

We are excited to welcome Renee Ricci, DO, MPH, to Novant Health Riverside Women's Care! Dr. Ricci obtained her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, FL., During that time, she completed her master's in public health. Dr. Ricci completed her residency at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA.

Dr. Ricci developed an interest in women's health, specifically providing care to underserved populations, and participated in medical mission trips while in medical school to Ecuador and Jamaica. She has a background in Internal Medicine, having completed a preliminary year before undergoing OB/GYN residency, and she feels that allows her to have a better understanding of some more complex medical problems.

Her approach to healthcare is patient-centric while also performing the most evidence-based care she can. She can speak Romanian and Spanish fluently, and it has been beneficial to give her a deeper understanding of cultural differences that may play a role in healthcare.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their pets. They have 2 cats and a senior dog that they recently adopted. She also enjoys baking, traveling, playing tennis, and skiing.

Good Afternoon, Lowcountry! Novant Health Orthopedics and Sports Medicine will now be seeing patients at our Hampton, SC, location. Dr. Edward Blocker, who specializes in robotic knee and hip surgery, carpal tunnel release, general orthopedics, and fracture care, will be seeing patients at 408 Jackson Ave East, Hampton, SC 29924 starting in September to better serve the Lowcountry. So skip the drive to Beaufort or Charleston and come see Dr. Blocker starting in September for remarkable care...now closer to home.

We have some exciting updates in primary care across our market!

Novant continues to grow to meet the needs of the Lowcountry. If you are new to the area, need a prescription or feeling under the weather, skip the urgent care and establish care with a local provider that can get to know you and your healthcare needs. Our new providers can see you fast.

Alexis Riccione, NP, is now seeing new patients at Novant Health Okatie Primary Care, with same-day or next-day appointments available. You can reach her office at 843-705-9145.

At Novant Health Arley Way Primary Care, we’re adding two new providers. Jacey Cornett, PA, will start on August 25th, and Dr. Alexis Almeida will join on September 15th. They’re both accepting new patients—call 843-706-2523 to schedule.
