Dear Healing Tree Patients and Neighbors,
We just wanted to inform you that The Healing Tree (soon to be the Southern Utah Wellness Group) will be open for business to help remove nerve interference, naturally boost your immune system, promote detoxification, and relaxation. Our services represent an essential and necessary component of the health care system and we will be available to help you during this time. There is a great deal of hype in the media. Let’s stay calm and get empowered on what we CAN do to help ourselves and our community.
Here is a powerful link regarding 10 amazing studies of how chiropractic helps naturally boost our immunity to bacteria and viruses. Chiropractic and immunity 10 studies (absolutely worth a read!) Remember that massage also has research indicating improved immune response. https://www.amtamassage.org/research/Massage-Therapy-Research-Roundup/Research-Roundup0.html We also have Valora Barlow, a Board Certified Traditional Naturopath, to help with specific remedies during this time and heat induction therapies.
Our understanding of COVID-19 is that it spreads through droplets, thus the avoidance of groups where someone is sick, coughing or sneezing is helpful. If you are showing symptoms, or test positive for COVID-19, simply reschedule for a later date. Otherwise, let’s work on prevention!
** Please understand that bacterial infections and viral infections are opportunistic! Meaning, if we are exposed to them, that does not automatically mean we will get sick. Our immune system must be compromised for some reason in order to allow them to take hold. Common things that compromise our immunity:
Stress (tight muscles)
Lack of sleep
Subluxations (poor nerve flow to the immune system)
Poor diet (too much sugar, lack of vitamins, minerals, and micro-nutrients)
Lack of Vitamin D and sun exposure, to name a few.
**( Note that a lack of toilet paper is not on the list :)
Unlike common viruses and even the AIDS virus that can live on a surface for only minutes or hours, the COVID-19 virus can live on a surface or article of clothing for several days. So, disinfect/wash surfaces, clothes and bedding more often for the next few months.
As part of America’s health care system, our job as Chiropractic Physicians, Massage Therapists, and Naturopaths, is to be proactive by educating patients in the power of good personal hygiene, good musculoskeletal hygiene, and proper nutrition. These are important parts of preventing the flu and bouncing back if we get sick.
Some helpful suggestions for the next few weeks: Wipe down surfaces often with virus and bacteria killing products
Wash your clothes and bedding often
Keep a distance from those that are coughing or sneezing
Supplement (Vitamin D, Zinc, and Vitamin C are helpful in prevention) Mercola.com. We also have Standard Process supplements and homeopathic remedies and tinctures. Use Essential Oils that you have at home.
Get adjusted regularly
Mild exercise (walking in the sun is a good one)
Practice a Keto-style diet by eating more proteins, healthy fats, and complex carbs (vegetables), while AVOIDING sugars. Remember that sugar depresses the immune system for up to 8 hours.
We suggest L-Arginine (loaded with Vit. D) to boost nitric oxide, which has been shown to inhibit the replication cycle of SARS coronavirus . We use proargi-9 plus. We can get you order info at the office.
We have anti-viral homeopathic remedies, turmeric and garlic tinctures, and other things for immune support.
** We will be practicing all of the above at the office. We also have powerful anti-viral/anti-bacterial air filters running at the office.
If you feel sick or test positive for the COVID-19, or suspect you may have it, follow the CDC’s advice with a personal quarantine for 2 weeks. Why? Because unlike the 3-4 day flu, COVID-19 has a longer life cycle and therefore is more contagious for longer.
The COVID-19 life cycle has been explained to us as follows:
2-day incubation period (no symptoms)
3-5th days sick and showing symptoms
6th day feeling better (so people go back to work and spread it)
7th the worst sick day
8-9th days sick but recovering (unless weak, elderly, or otherwise compromised in health)
The vast majority of people will be over it by the 10th-12th day
This explains why the CDC suggests the 2-week time-off or quarantine.
Not every sniffle or cough is from COVID-19. If a person is sick and it is not the COVID-19, or they are simply suffering from allergies, then they could feel better and get back to work sooner.
We all have lives to live and jobs to get done. Let’s stay healthy together by being proactive, optimistic, and taking the right steps to avoid illness or recover quickly.
Yours in health,
The Healing Tree (Southern Utah Wellness Group)
