Happy National Rural Health Day!
Today we celebrate the strength and innovation of Utah’s rural communities — and the work we’re doing at the Utah Center for Rural Health to expand access to care, grow the healthcare workforce, and support future providers.
This year has been one of our most impactful yet. Highlights include:
Building Utah’s Rural Health Pipeline
• Supported 1,200+ Utah Health Scholars across SUU, Utah Tech, and Snow College
• Delivered 30+ skill-building courses and expanded hands-on learning for K–12 students
• Led a cultural immersion trip to the Dominican Republic for 34 students
• Engaged 2,000 UHS alumni with resources and mentorship
Strengthening Rural Dental Pathways
• Pre-dental leaders delivered K–12 outreach, Dental Day activities, and global service
Supporting Utah’s Future Healthcare Workforce
• Facilitated rural rotations for medical, PA, and family medicine students
• Completed a 3.5-year CHW program serving 300+ individuals
• Supported Utah’s Rural Health Plan through statewide focus groups
• Coordinated 3RNET efforts resulting in 245 postings and 357 active rural jobs
Expanding Behavioral Health Access
• Graduated six UT-PIC psychology interns (2,000 hours each)
• Received a $1.35M HRSA award to expand training and trauma-informed care
Investing in Community Wellness
• Launched a Student Wellness & Resilience Initiative
• Delivered new Motivational Interviewing training
• Supported rural clinics through nationally recognized diabetes care projects
We’re grateful for our students, staff, partners, providers, and communities who make this work possible.
Proud of this mission — and excited for what’s ahead.
