BeeHive Homes of Cedar City is in search of a part-time Activities Assistant. The activities assistant will work from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

ACTIVITIES ASSISTANT POSITION SUMMARY

The Activities Assistant is responsible for providing a therapeutic, practical and fun program to facility residents. This person must convey a positive image of the facility and must have a genuine caring for and interest in working with elderly people. The Activity Assistant should provide opportunities for social care and enrichment by providing interaction in the facility, community and provide a program that promotes resident’s independence and a sense of self-direction. The Activity Assistant must, within the individual’s area of focus, assure compliance with BeeHive Homes’ quality standards and State and Federal regulations. This individual must be highly organized and possess outstanding interpersonal skills with a high level of energy and enthusiasm. The Activity Assistant works closely with the Activity Director to ensure operational performance, quality of service, and competitiveness with other area facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES:

The Activity Assistant is expected to perform position-related duties that include, but are not limited to:

Program

Providing socialization through group discussion, conversation, recreation, visiting, arts and crafts, music, and care of pets.
Providing daily living activities to foster and maintain independent functioning;
Providing physical activities such as games, sports, and exercises, which develop and maintain strength,
coordination, and range of motion.

Providing education through special classes or activities.
Providing leisure time, so residents may engage in activities of their own choosing;
Gardening
Utilizing community resources to promote resident participation in activities both in and away form the
facility.

Attendance at a place of worship of the residents choice.
Residents, Staff, and others

Coordinate all recreational activities including volunteer and auxiliary activities;
Encourage residents to participate in planned and non-planned activities.
Keep with in the activity budget and accurately record where the funds have been spent.
Remind staff of up coming events, birthdays, volunteers’ etc.
Delegate and follow up with staff.
Encourage resident participation in planning, organizing, and conducting the residents’ activity program,
possibly implementing a resident council.

The resident council may be an informal organized entity. Staff or residents may suggest topics.
Implement activities for the social, emotional, physical and other therapeutic needs of the residents.
Participate in resident care planning by identifying the activity needs of residents in accordance with the
medical assessment, working with other professionals as necessary.

Equipment and Supplies

1. Providing sufficient indoor and outdoor equipment and supplies to meet the recreational needs and interests of its residents.

Regulatory and Legal

Comply with facility's policies and procedures and recommend changes as necessary.

Bring to the attention of the Administrator any deficiencies that may arise.

Insure compliance to policies relating to work site safety, blood-borne pathogens, hazard communication, and

infection control.

*
Insure compliance with respect to risk management; death, the dying and the aging process; fire safety; disaster

preparedness; residents' rights; and grievance procedures.

Other

*
Develop skills and education through other higher educational and/or continuing education opportunities. Annual continuing education requirements shall be as determined by State regulations or as required by the Administrator / Owner.

Complete full orientation upon hire.

*
Attend staff meetings as required.

CULTURE

The Activities Assistant reports to the Activity Director and is responsible for carrying out the primary duties as outlined by the Administrator. These essential functions include, but are not limited to:

Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations in dealing with employees, residents, residents’ families, visitors, and coworkers in a professional, confidential manner.
Initiate and participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities based on the four components of quality: customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, process/system refinement, and financial impact.
Demonstrate the ability to embrace and project the values of the facility: safety, trust and respect, teamwork, partnership and service, compassion, integrity, efficiency, and financial responsibility.
Communicate accurate and pertinent information to facilitate effective and efficient resident care.
Apply problem solving and conflict resolution skills where needed.
Maintain awareness of governmental, societal, legal, environmental, and competitive factors which affect the
home.

JOB DUTIES: The Cook is expected to perform position-related duties that include, but are not limited to:

Oversee the dietary and food service performance of the facility.
Communicate accurate and pertinent information to facilitate efficient and optimal resident nutrition.
Ensure optimal maintenance of the kitchen, dining room, and equipment. ·
Monitor and maintain food/supply inventory.
Prepare nutritious, well-prepared and presented meals on a timely and consistent basis in accordance with written menu, approved recipes, special diet requirements, and number of persons served. ·*Dietician approved menu provided by outside company.
Ensure food, food preparation, equipment, and storage areas are maintained in accordance with sanitation requirements. ·
Serve food according to dietary guidelines, checking for completeness and accurateness of the food served. ·
Review residents' diet information and care plans and discuss with resident, family, and resident care attendants as necessary to make appropriate changes. ·
Monitor portion control guidelines for individual residents. ·
Maintain sufficient inventory as specified by state licensure bureau, and purchase food items within budgeting parameters. ·
Stock and store food items as specified by state licensure bureau. ·
Retrieve dishes and utensils following meals and ensure all dishes and utensils are washed and properly sanitized. ·
Complete substitution log if applicable. ·
Post weekly menus. ·*Dietician approved menu provided by outside company.
Regulatory and Legal:

Ensure compliance to policies related to safe food handling and infection control. ·
Ensure compliance with respect to risk management; death, the dying and the aging process; fire safety; disaster preparedness; residents' rights; and grievance procedures. ·
Assist during a state survey or other in-house inspection of records as necessary. Facility Management ·
