Do you use eye drops like Visine?

Certain brands like these contain preservatives. They come in multidose bottles that contain preservatives to stop bacteria once opened. However, these preservatives may irritate your eyes and lead to more severe symptoms down the road.

Preservative-free eye drops are a better alternative. They may come in single-dose vials and have fewer additives. These are recommended if you apply artificial tears multiple times a day or if you have moderate or severe dry eyes.

We have half-sheets at our clinic with a list of recommended eye drops! Our doctors will check which ones are best for you depending on your eyes. You can always come pick one up or inquire are your next appointment!

Dr. Lee, our owner and ophthalmologist, has been a pioneer when it comes to utilizing The XEN® Gel Stent to treat glaucoma.

The XEN® Gel Stent is an implant that lowers high eye pressure in open-angle glaucoma patients where previous surgical treatment or medications alone have failed. What is glaucoma?

Glaucoma is a disease that damages your eye’s optic nerve. It usually happens when fluid builds up in the front part of your eye. That extra fluid increases the pressure in your eye, damaging the optic nerve and potentially leading to blindness. There are two types:

Open-angle glaucoma is the most common type. It happens gradually, where the eye does not drain fluid as well as it should (like a clogged drain).

Angle-closure glaucoma happens when someone’s iris is very close to the drainage angle in their eye, blocking the drainage angle. When this gets completely blocked, eye pressure rises very quickly.
