We're proud to support the next generation of caregivers. In December, a cohort of registered nurses who have been participating in our Mountain Region's New Graduate RN Residency Program took part in a matching ceremony that placed them in a hospital unit or shift based on their preference and existing needs. In total, 14 of our Mountain Region hospitals have welcomed new nurses through this program and are helping them achieve their nursing goals.

CommonSpirit's New Graduate RN Residency Program uses innovative, evidence-based curriculum during a 12-month program focused on three areas critical to new nurse success: leadership, patient outcomes, and professional role. Congratulations to NICU nurse Brenna Stephenson, who received a DAISY Award at CommonSpirit Holy Cross Hospital - Jordan Valley. Brenna was nominated by the family of one of her patients: "The love and compassion she showed me and my family was fantastic ... she loved my baby girl for that short amount of time just as much as any of us. She has laughed and cried with us through these last several weeks and has made our time with our daughter in the NICU incredible.”

Statewide Helmet Distribution Program will provide all 277 Colorado high schools that play tackle football with new Riddell Sports Axiom helmets - 15,516 helmets in total. We are thrilled to welcome Stacey-Ann Okoth, PhD, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE, as our Chief Nursing Officer for CommonSpirit Health's Mountain Region, effective Feb. 12. In the CNO role, Stacey-Ann will lead our more than 5,000 nursing employees to enhance clinical quality and patient safety across Colorado, Utah and Kansas.

Stacey-Ann is an experienced health care executive who has held numerous leadership positions ranging from nurse manager to chief nursing officer. Before joining CommonSpirit, Stacey-Ann served as Senior Vice President and Associate Chief Nurse Executive for Jefferson Health in Philadelphia, where she led the business strategy, vision and growth objectives for nursing, ambulatory and transitions of care in a 17-hospital health system with more than 42,000 caregivers.

“As I step into this role, my focus will be on empowering nurses, fostering collaboration, and ensuring patients receive exceptional care across the Mountain Region," Stacey-Ann said. "I look forward to working with the team to strengthen nursing practice and deliver meaningful outcomes for the communities we serve.”

Stacey-Ann will relocate to Colorado with her husband, two of her four children, and the family’s Yorkie, Bella. Outside of work, Stacey-Ann enjoys hiking, playing pickleball, and spending time with family. She especially loves watching her son play basketball and baseball. Welcome, Stacey-Ann!
