Just dumping everything our hygienists want you to know about flossing! 🦷✨
Flossing isn’t just a bonus—it’s ESSENTIAL! 🧵 Brushing alone misses nearly half the surface area of your teeth, leaving behind plaque and bacteria in those tight spaces your toothbrush can’t reach. 🪥🚫
By removing plaque and food particles between your teeth and under the gumline, flossing helps prevent cavities, gum disease, and bad breath. 🦠🦷💨
Neglecting to floss can lead to gum inflammation, bleeding, and eventually gum disease, which, if left untreated, may result in tooth loss. 😬🩸
Gum disease has even been linked to other health issues, including heart disease and diabetes. ❤️🩺 Keeping your gums healthy with daily flossing may help lower your risk for these conditions!
How to floss like a pro:
1️⃣ Use about 18 inches of floss
2️⃣ Wrap it around your middle fingers
3️⃣ Guide it with your thumbs and index fingers
4️⃣ Gently slide the floss between your teeth, hugging each tooth and going beneath the gum line
Be gentle! 💕 Aggressive flossing can damage your gums, while being too gentle may not remove all the bacteria. Find your flossing sweet spot!
Pro tip: Flossing before brushing may help remove more plaque, but the most important thing is that you do it THOROUGHLY every day! 🗓️
