"Dr Om Patel rescued me from a nasty infection which came after a total knee replacement followed by a second knee surgery to put in a spacer while receiving 6 weeks of IV Port antibiotics. When the infection roared back up again after ceasing the first antibiotic treatment, Dr Om Patel stepped in to do my next surgery because my former doctor was having a baby that day.
He removed the infected spacer with great difficulty by chipping it out of where it had been glued in, causing excessive bone loss and damage to the remaining bone. He cleaned out the area and dosed it with antibiotics then put in another spacer followed by 6 more weeks of IV Port antibiotics. After this I tested free of infection by 2 tests. After a few weeks, Dr Om Patel performed another surgery to put in a permanent metal knee replacement. I am now 13 weeks past this final knee with a knee that bends to 124 degrees and I am walking normally.
Throughout all of this Dr Om Patel and his wonderful staff were there for me every step of the way. He is kind, caring and he listens carefully to everything the patient has to say.
I would recommend Dr Om Patel to anyone who has knee problems requiring surgery. He checked on me constantly all through my recovery, keeping me from over using my knee while it was healing and helping me navigate appropriate physical therapy for the stage of recovery I was in.
I will always be thankful for Dr Om Patel’s treatment and his guidance through the Infection, 2 different spacers and finally a permanent knee that works like it should!"
