In case you're new here... Hi! I’m Dr. Dara Havemann, a board-certified Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility specialist at Dallas IVF. My work is deeply personal because I’ve been in your shoes. Diagnosed with PCOS-related infertility, my husband and I went through IVF to welcome twins, and later, a frozen embryo transfer brought us our second son.

Now, I dedicate my career to helping others build their families. I treat a wide range of fertility needs, including IVF, IUI, recurrent pregnancy loss, genetic testing, male infertility, egg freezing, LGBTQ+ family-building, egg donation, and surrogacy. I’ve even created injection-training videos to help my patients feel more confident at home.

My approach is simple: clear, compassionate, and empowering. I believe fertility care should never feel intimidating. You deserve a doctor who explains every step in a way that makes you feel informed and supported. 💙

We're focusing on Self-Care in September, and I have to say, I have NEVER been much of a journaler. But I started journaling this summer, and it has really helped me to sit and intentionally reflect on my day. I reflect on how the previous day impacted me and how I'd like the day ahead to unfold. This has been a HUGE self-care moment for me, both soothing and inspiring, and I highly recommend it.

Let’s talk Pap smears (because your cervix deserves VIP care too).
Did you know? Regular Pap tests can catch changes before they become cancer. Think of it as your body’s early warning system—quick, simple, and powerful.

📅 Ages 21–65: every 3 years
🔬 At 30: you can add HPV testing for extra peace of mind

It’s not the most glamorous self-care… but it’s one of the most important. 💪💗

The truth? Male infertility is common, complicated, and nothing to be ashamed of. The stigma keeps too many men from asking questions or getting care, which delays answers and adds stress for couples already in the thick of it.

Here is the reality: male infertility can be complex, but it is also something we can address. The more we discuss it, the faster couples can transition from feeling stuck to finding effective solutions.

Knowledge is power, and learning about male reproductive health is one of the best steps you can take if you are trying to build a family. There are options, treatments, and so much hope.

Take 1 minute and swipe through to see how we support men (and their partners) as they take those steps toward parenthood.

Happy Labor Day! 💪❤️🤍💙

Today, we honor the hard work, dedication, and resilience of people across every profession. As a reproductive endocrinologist, I also want to recognize the emotional, physical, and sometimes financial “labor” that goes into building a family.

For many, the fertility journey is its own kind of work—full of commitment, perseverance, and hope. If you’re on that path, know that your efforts matter, your feelings are valid, and your dreams are worth pursuing.

Whether you’re resting, celebrating, or spending time with loved ones today, I hope you take a moment to honor your own hard work—both on and off the job. 💙

Tips to Avoid Triggering Posts on Social Media

On Instagram:
1. Go to your profile and select the menu (three horizontal lines)
2. Scroll down to Content Preferences under "What you see"
3. Adjust your settings to things like seeing less "sensitive content," selecting posts that you're "not interested" in, or hiding suggested posts with hashtags or captions with specific words

On Facebook:
1. Click on your account and go to Settings & privacy
2. Under Settings & privacy, go to Content preferences
3. Consider adjusting your settings to show less "sensitive content," temporarily snoozing friends or family that may post triggering things, or unfollowing people or groups that may post triggering topics

Let’s talk about something that doesn’t get talked about enough: fertility care for same-sex couples.

The truth? The path looks a little different, but support, clarity, and options should always be part of the plan.

For same-sex female couples, that might mean discussing reciprocal IVF, donor s***m, or IUI. For same-sex male couples, it often involves finding an egg donor and a gestational carrier. And for anyone across the LGBTQ+ spectrum, the first step should always be personalized care that listens first and assumes nothing.

Every family story is valid. Every path deserves respect.
And your provider should treat it that way.

Fertility care isn’t one-size-fits-all. And it shouldn’t be.

Let’s talk about secondary infertility.

It’s confusing. It’s emotional. And it’s often misunderstood.

Just because you’ve had a baby before doesn’t mean trying for another will be easy. Secondary infertility is the inability to conceive or carry a pregnancy to term after already having a child, and studies report that it affects about 11% of couples in the U.S.

If this is something you’re facing, you’re not alone. Here, I break it down.
