There is some debate about how much self-disclosure is appropriate for a therapist to share. My feeling is that when shared in a clinically appropriate way, self-disclosure regarding overcoming a difficult experience can be very powerful. It is a testimony for healing, and not just a generic technique learned in a book or a seminar. I welcome thoughts from therapists and clients.

I hadn’t thought of it that way before, but that’s a really great analogy! Let’s all be like a camera!
